Woo, that's a great bump to help! Not like they adjust for inflation or anything. Hope you found some peace out of the house.

I think the last time I was any kind of trendy was in 6th grade. I was in public school and wore the styles that were popular in the late 50's. Poodle skirts, twinsets, and shirtwaist dresses with tight waistlines and matching belts. Then I went to Catholic school and had to wear a uniform. The only thing I remember having that was trendy then was a mohair sweater. When I left school and went to work in offices, I wore suits with matching heels and purse.

Funny story. One day I was with my co-workers and having lunch in a downtown restaurant. We were all in our "work uniforms". Our very conservative dress code was a black or navy skirted suit, white blouse, sensible pumps, and we were allowed to wear a gold or silver cross as jewelry.

Two young men came to our table and asked if they could get us more coffee. We were flattered by their attention. When we were leaving we thanked them and one of them said, we are glad to help you out Sisters. They thought we were nuns.

Great Story thank you for sharing. I would never be mistaken for a Nun. Well Maybe if I shut my mouth but that isn't happening any time soon.

Just out of curiosity and if you're comfortable answering, and I realize this was some time ago...what office job only allowed a cross as jewelry?

In the 1980's I worked for Electronic Data Systems or EDS, the company owned by Ross Perot. He treated us very well, but had strict rules. You had to sign a paper saying you would not smoke or live in a house where people smoked. Of course most people lied about that. Dress codes were very strict. I remember that we had to wear leather shoes with no metal decoration on them, only a cross for jewelry, and there were rules for hair, makeup, and clothing.

You were not permitted to cohabitate unless you were married. The company was purchased by General Motors and they got rid of Ross. Ross ended up running for president. We used to sit around the data center and speculate what the country would be like if Ross were to be elected. They did random drug testing and encouraged employees to report their co-workers if they were suspected of using weed. Things like that could never happen today.

Good morning gang.

Do you ever wonder if you actually had surgery? I don't. I thought I was dying last night. I had the foamies for the first time in ten years, and lost most of my dinner. I didn't overeat -- I weighed 5.17 ounces -- which is about what I eat for ham. I just can't eat anywhere near that much potato, apparently. I'll take it as a not so gentle reminder and move on.

QOTD: What decade was I the trendiest? Seriously? I consider myself to always have been on fashion's cutting edge. I think I've been wearing the same things all my life. Which is easier, I think, being male.

I had Foamies last night also. I grabbed peanuts before bed. I was surprised too because I eat them all the time. I was up at 2:30 I took a big swig of water and got sick; I thought I cleared it but still did not feel great during my wog this morning.

I do wonder, until something like that happens. Horrible feeling.

I notice that starchy foods are much less tolerated. I can only do small amounts. Interestingly with potatoes, fries in small amounts but mashed or baked (with all the yummy butter and sour cream) are much more tolerable.
