I am thinking May or September 2024. I am excited about the hot air balloon ride, the chances to have meals with local people and the educational opportunities.

Oh, I am so glad you found something that will work for you!! I loved Iceland, I've been twice and I just planned a graduation trip there for a friend and his son so I'm getting daily pictures making me know I need to go again.

I have been looking for months and had not found anything that I thought I would feel comfortable traveling solo and worrying about my mobility. I had pretty much given up on finding a friend who wanted to go to the same place at the same time I did, so was looking for tours that are more geared to my situation. I would love to explore Iceland with you.

My memory from school was that Leif Eriksson kept people away from the beautiful country of Iceland by naming Greenland. The story was that when they found Greenland was so cold an desolate, they would not want to continue to a country named Iceland because they would think it as much colder than Greenland. Probably not true but the story I always loved.

Iceland is green and Greenland is icy is the funniest thing! Lief was born in Iceland and exiled as a child (with his family of course) and that?s how they settled Greenland. It is pretty certain now that he was the first European to land in the new world - Baffin Island and then Labrador and L?anse Aux Meadows in Newfoundland. I haven?t been there but Labrador & Nova Scotia are very much on my list!

I can see I will be doing a lot of studying before I go and expect to learn a lot there. My friends and family believe that a vacation should be spent lying on the beach.

They will rent the same condo in Ocean City for 30 years in a row and once in a while rent a condo at Myrtle Beach for something different. They eat at the same restaurants every year and order the same things from the menu.

That pretty much bores me to death.

I want to experience new places and learn as much as I can about the place and people there. Egypt has been an interest all of my life and I am finally not tied down by work or people and can do what I dream of.

I was an iPhone technician and sometimes had to teach 80 year olds how to use the iPhone that their grandkids bought them. I used to think there should be a law requiring you to instruct your grandparent if you gave them a phone.

Lol, they were delightful. One lady would just bring me her phone every day so I could email her husband that he was still alive. One of the older guys would come and have breakfast with me every morning ?those old people just talk about their aches and pains and BMs, who needs that over eggs? he would say. His (not) wife (they were both 85 and ?living in sin? thanked me because she didn?t have to listen to him in the morning, lol

it gave me some life goals for my 80s,lol
