I once saw a Tesla whose driver was sleeping on the 405.

All I think about with people monitoring those self-driving cars is that story with the woman who was ignoring everything and her car killed a woman who was crossing the road. Systems and human failure together in that case.

Your lighting would be so much fun! Assuming it's LED? I wonder what that would cost per month. There's a security floodlight mounted to my power pole in the yard. They charge me $8 a month for it. Hmm.

Mornin' All!

my friends from NC will be here sometime today. They'll be coming from Milwaukee, so I'm guessing that means they spent the night there (they flew in to Minneapolis a few days ago). So I'm not really expecting them before noon (although it's only about a 70-minute drive - but they'll probably eat breakfast and bum around a bit), and it could be later this afternoon since they probably can't check in to their hotel here until 3:00-ish. So...who knows? Hopefully they'll give me a window so I can sort of plan my day. But I'm so excited to see them!! It's been at least 37 years, since I moved here 37 years ago - but it could be 40 or more. I honestly can't remember. I wi**** wasn't going to be so damn hot here this weekend - 90F/32C - that's more like August weather, not early June. UGH. It's definitely not going to be that comfortable walking around town - esp since I'm not used to temps that high yet (well, I never like 90 degree temps, but it's a little more tolerable if I'm used to it). I'm hoping to finish the two books I'm reading before they get here - one for my book discussion group on Monday morning, and the other I need to return to its owner (a new friend - so i don't want to negatively affect the friendship before it gets off the ground by taking forever to return his book!!!)

QOTD: I'm really nervous about the whole idea of self-driving cars, so no. Plus I don't mind driving in general - it's just long driving trips that I don't really like. So...flying cars. But they'd have to do A LOT of work on this before I'd be on board. Too much potential for even worse accidents than we have now. I remember back when DH was working at a university in central Illinois, about five hours from here - we'd get together every other weekend, and I hated that drive more than anything. If I knew how to fly a plane, I would have - so a flying car would have great back in those days.

B: protein shake, coffee with half & half

late MS/early L: one of my many leftovers - probably the chicken/butternut squash tangine I made last night, or the chicken curry with tomatoes and bell peppers that I made the night before

AS: it depends on when my friends get here, but I should probably have something before I meet with them regardless (unless they get here a lot earlier than expected). Probably Ratio yogurt or a protein muffin

D: I have no idea, since we'll all probably be at a restaurant somewhere

have a great day, everyone!!

I feel the same about self driving cars. Makes me feel very uneasy.

Good morning! Loading up from the cabin today and heading to Spokane. Lots of travel only days ahead to eat up ground to make a few dates in Oregon and then California. Lots of people to see, and hard decisions are being made because we are, at last, truly running out of time.

QoTD: I spent the last ten years of employment thinking my days would be better if I had a truly autonomous car so I could just read during rush hour traffic. Clearly, technology failed me.

bites today

B. Ham breakfast steak and one egg. I'll be bringing enough food home from this place to feed me for several days AND supply Rog with potatoes with his dinner as well.

L. On the road. Leftover roast chicken and tomatoes I think

D. Hope to make chili when we get set up this afternoon.

so many photos to dump. I feel guilty there's so many, but I love them all. It's almost over, people. I promise.
