Agree. I do not have the salesperson gift. I remember when I was regularly selling stuff and there was always the business plan to upsell or suggest add ons. I would always be honest and tell customers whether or not the items would be beneficial based on what they needed. I can't just push a sale for the monies. Would be a terrible car salesperson.

I sold millions of dollars in information services during my career. I did try to be honest and was often amazed at what people before me had sold to companies just to make money off of them. There is always a less expensive solution and it is an art to determine what is really needed and what is really useless enhancement.

See, you're established and have built trust with your clients. I think some of it really depends on the team you work on. If bottom line is all management cares about and dollar are king, it's hard to thrive while providing the best service for the customers. Sounds like you've had a good team, hopefully!
