Good morning gang. I hope you're all doing well.
I just saw a remarkable bit of news. For the last year Ford had eliminated AM radio from all it's vehicles. You couldn't get an AM radio if you wanted it. They had some weak claim about it interfering with electric vehicles, but that's just nonsense. They were pressured to add it back in next year, because AM is still one of the primary sources for emergency broadcasts.
I can remember when many cars offered no radio of any kind. It was an extra cost option. Then AM was standard, with FM being an additional cost. If you wanted a tape deck, you had to go and pay extra and have the factory radio taken out.
The wheel keeps turning.
QOTD: I use a little math every day. I'm a big baseball fan, and there's always math involved. I like geometry, and have frequent use of basic geometry. It's fun.

I read that article, too. I still listen to AM sometimes when I'm traveling (and channel surfing). Sometimes I'll find some talk show (or news show) on there. And DH will occasionally listen to baseball games on AM. Oh - one of our local NPR affiliates broadcasts on AM (but I mostly listen to that on FM). But otherwise I don't listen to it much. So different from when I was a kid (and you, too - we're the same age) when almost EVERYTHING was on AM. Most of the FM stations back then featured things like classical music - or the "easy listening" stuff that my parents liked. When I got into my later teens and listened to more of what they used to call "album rock", I listened to more FM because those types of stations had started to pop up on FM -- but most popular music was only on AM.

I heard about that! I haven't listened to actual radio in years though. I am my own DJ with my Bluetooth:-). In the car I usually get through my podcasts, my audiobooks and my own playlists.

I haven't listened to music on the radio in about 20 years. I think the last "new" artist i discovered on the radio was Michelle Shocked. It's been a while.
Ive mostly listened to ballgames on the radio, and more often than not it's on AM -- especially in the middle of nowhere. but I guess those two demographics really go together, don't they.
