^^this feels like a good Hump Day meme!^^

Good Morning, Gang! Hmm, yesterday was not the day I planned. Pretty much right after I hit send on the thread yesterday morning, I ate breakfast, and within a few minutes I was puking. No idea what happened there, but I felt awful all morning and was back in bed by 9am. I felt better by noon, but needless to say, I ended up with yet anther day of doing nothing. On the plus side, we started The Diplomat and love it!

Today is Mother's Day 2.0. They are playing the original Wizard of Oz in the theater and we're taking my parents, then going out to dinner. Should be super fun! Before we go, I am also going to get a lot of baking done today. I am bringing a ton of cookies to my cousin's graduation next week, and I have two big classes coming up, so lot's to do@

QOTD: How often do you shampoo your hair? I wa**** every other day or so. My hair is ridiculously thick and curly and my hairdresser says I should only wa**** once a week to keep it healthy, but I'd rather wa**** more often and use crazy amounts of keratin conditioner.

B: protein coffee

L: deli turkey & cheese on carb smart tortilla

S: movie popcorn!

D: fish tacos

Good morning QJB and menuers,

Well that sounds like a terrible way to spend the day. I hope whatever it is has passed since it sounds like you have 10,000 cookies to make.

QOTD - every time I shower. I have really fine hair that gets oily at the drop of a hat, so I'm an every day washer. Nothing else has ever worked and for me to have second day hair, dry shampoo is involved. Conditioner is a couple of times per month. I don't use heat products on my hair, though.

I have a call with a GI app team this morning. Then maybe cooking a bit since yesterday worked out. The lawn team should come through today since I don't have the capacity to spend 5+ hours on a mower, plus weeding and edging.

Yesterday I finally made the chicken and corn egg drop soup I'd been thinking about. It tasted similar enough to the restaurant version I remember from 20 years ago to make me happy. Simple comfort food with a lot of protein. Mmm. Things seem to be improving a bit and I'm embracing that with everything in me.

The GI clinic called and said they forgot to give me a kit. Just drop by...but they're over an hour away. So maybe need to work that in, too. Then an hour each way to drop off stuff. It was her birthday, so I get her forgetting but that's a bit of a pain.

Gonna break out my baby weights today and do a bit of arm work to get things started.

Got my dates wrong. My neuropathy follow up is tomorrow, so have that. Woo!

Today's menu will be more soup, hopefully a spinach and gnocchi recipe I love, some dumplings, half a package of ramen, a protein shake, and half a chomp.

Happy, happy Wednesday!

So happy to hear that things are improving a bit. For the egg drop soup, did you drop the egg into the soup in a slow stream? I've been curious how that actually works. I assume it's similar to dropping funnel cake.

I did! I beat the eggs lightly in a bowl separately and then poured it in while stirring the soup. The recipe said to stir slowly for big strings and faster for small. I stirred faster. Soup was a little thicker than I'd like but perfectly good for a first try.

Recipe above if you're interested. Mine had extra corn since I didn't want an open partial can. I also used cooked, shredded chicken instead of raw and added more for protein. Thicker soup but still excellent comfort food!

Higher carb for your average bariatric recipe but can be tweaked with more chicken and eggs. I just need the carbs right now. :)

5 hours for lawn work!! How often do you have to do that?

I am happy to hear your diet progression is going well. Can't you ask the GI clinic to mail you the kit? Seems like that is a long drive just to pick up something. Unless, of course, you have other errands in the area.

Your egg drop soup sounds delicious. What is your recipe?

Heh, I wish. Five hours is what it takes just to ride the mower around to mow the cleared few acres. I've got some elevation that's significant to a lawn mower, so can't have a huge, fixed deck. It's also not possible to go full speed in a lot of places and I've never gotten over the fear I might roll the thing on some of the inclines.

Then it would probably be another few hours of weed whacking and edging with all the fences, edges, and trees. If I stopped maintaining the pasture it would cut down pretty significantly but I do want some clear space around the house. I'll try and take some pictures around here and post them.

I should call them back and ask today. They did say I have to refrigerate it and bring it back, so who knows?

Recipe shared above! I did use whole eggs. If you like Chinese food, I would definitely recommend this soup. Went lighter on sesame oil out of personal preference.
