I'd like to change the shrubs at the front of the house, but it involves digging up some very old bushes that likely have extensive roots. I definitely want planting advice from them on what to plant. I should just ask them all these questions.

I live in a rural area. My local Lowe's and Ace hardware have such experts, or they know who in town to call to get the info you need. Absolutely leverage their knowledge if you have them out there!

It may be moles or some other animal eating the bulbs. Try Phlox. Beautiful when it blooms and cascades down the wall and stays green all summer. LOL just saw the photos you are Phloxed out.

We love the phlox. Odd thing though. I originally alternated purple, pink, and white. But over time it's just all become purple.

Our soil here is very clay-y and at the nursery they tell you how the color of the blooms will change vs the standard. It's really cool. My older roses started a light yellow but now they are a gorgeous pinky-cream

There's good soil here, but lots of rocks. If I plant a geranium I pull out enough rocks to delight Hadrian.

Several years ago my brother bought a new house in Maryland, and I went down to build him a deck. My God, the clay! I had no idea -- we have so little here. Digging the holes for the footings was murder. And it stuck to the shovel like glue. Yuck.

Same for me mine are now all purple. The deer munch on them but just enough to trim them back not enough to wipe them out that is why I like them.

Hello Queen and all

I have been a bit unwell this week and going to bed so early so haven't been online. Much better now. Was just a virus type thing.

QOTD: I'm a good mix of my parents. Had the horrible realisation that on my 40th birthday that everything that annoys me about my parents are actually things I do as well lol

Food: eating slightly more but still having portein shake each day. Had a chicken salad wrap and spaghetti meatballs for dinner.

Hope everyone is happy and healthy. Have a good day!
