Serger. It uses 3 to 5 spools of thread at a time, trims the edge of the fabric, and loops thread around the edge to prevent the fabric edge from fraying.

I once had some nice ladybug fabric in a heavy cotton duck, but that material is almost always plain, solid colors. That's why I was so happy to find the bumblebees.

And, the labor movement used bees and the skep as a traditional symbol for work, industriousness, and labor.

Busy bees!! The google for serger was "sometimes called an overlocker"...so your definition was much more useful!

There are a bunch of different types of stitches, and I'm really just a beginner. Throwing out the technical terms doesn't help define the function.

Manly stuff...like what?
I always wanted to learn how to sew with a sewing machine. One of my down the line in the future projects is to learn to make quilts, and it needs knowing how to work a sewing machine.

I need some rolls to store tools. It's helpful to use a different fabric for each, so I can tell at a glance what's inside. I'll post some pictures for photo Friday. Finally, an excuse to take a picture!

I've always thought that if I didn't have the room for woodworking that I might take up quilting. It combines a lot of things I like -- research, history, planning, creativity, active work, and a finished product that's useful, lasting, and beautiful.

He is a great sewer. Meanwhile, middle school Home Ec is the only class I have ever straight up failed.

Do you really sew or is this your way of indicating that you've been kidnapped? Given all the other things you and QJB do, I would not be surprised if you sew!

We should have a safe word though, so I can let you all know if Julia has locked me in the attic.
