What's on your Saturday menu?
on 4/15/23 3:55 am - Amarillo, TX
Good mornin everyone, it's the weekend! Yay!
Not much planned for the day. Hoping to get a necklace finished since I got the finishing pieces yesterday(finally). I need to do some cleaning but the pain has been bad so I don't know if I can do much heavy stuff...we'll see. My cats are on edge at the moment. There was a big and nasty sounding cat figh very close to us. They do not approve and are still on the back of the couch with airplane ears. Ha.
We're under a freeze warning tomorrow night. Just when you think the cold is done it creeps back!
QOTD: what is your favorite go to protein rich snacks or mini meals?
I'm looking for suggestions!
B: JUST egg bowl and coffee
L: chicken and ???
D: ?????
don't know if you have seen this...a real life snoopy!

Good morning Mel and weekend menuers!
Hope you're able to finish your project and do what you need to today.
QOTD- In a regular world I like biltong, Quest chips, cheese crisps, edamame, tuna infusions cups, boiled eggs when I can stand them, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc.
I'm going to experiment today since I had a really bad reaction after eating a ratio yogurt yesterday. No issues with the blueberries, banana, or black bean burger patty so I'm wondering if sugar alcohols are now on my bad list.
Also have to get dog nails done since they're overdue. I'm picking up groceries and cheap pillows on the way home.
Menu - blueberries, black grapes, turkey and cheddar wraps with hummus, black bean burger patty, protein shakes, hopefully boosted protein oatmeal.
Have a great day, folks!

Yep! I've seen a lot of feedback here on it. Just weird to me since I've been eating that yogurt brand for months now. Yay for sudden onset intolerances.

I'm sorry to hear that. And glad that you know what it is. This is definitely a learning journey after surgery!

I think a little too many sugar alcohols mess everyone up, surgery or not.

Yeah I don't have much faith in frankenfoods and the replacement sciences we use to create substitutes. In 30 years we'll be looking back and wondering why the heck we used to eat this stuff.

Mornin' All!
I went to my first film of the film fest last night (it was great), and someone I didn't think I knew said hello to me. She evidently noticed I looked puzzled, so she explained who she was. I've been Facebook friends with this woman for at least a year, but we've never met. The connection is - I "met" this guy via a DNA test a few years ago - he's like a fourth cousin or something. He's from Sweden, but his wife is Turkish, so they live in Turkey. His wife's brother lives here, in Madison (he's a radiologist), and this woman is his wife. So I guess that would make her my fourth (?) cousin's wife's sister-in-law. Anyway, I was shocked she recognized me! After the movie, she and I and her friend went to a poke place for dinner. Really, really fun people. I hope I see them again!
this morning DH woke me up because he heard some banging at the top of the stairs. He thought someone was in the upstairs family room - or that SOMETHING was happening up there. I went up there - nothing in the family room - but then I heard the banging. Could only be one thing - a raccoon in the attic! We had one in the chimney several years ago and had to call a wildlife removal service to get her (and her babies) out and put an industrial-strength chimney cap on the chimney. This guy (or gal) got in through a little window. Pulled it off. Cripes. I guess we'll be calling Kritter Kontrol again - and doing something with that window once we're raccoon-free. The joys of home ownership.
so two movies today and two more tomorrow. I'm glad I limited myself to five this year. I remember a couple of years going to ten or more, and it's WAY too much even though I loved all the movies. But five is good. I"m also continuing to look for lodging in Sweden and Denmark. Obviously Denmark doesn't have the same economic problems that Sweden does - or the exchange rate isn't as good (for Americans, anyway), because the hotels are WAY more expensive in Copenhagen than they are in Stockholm. Yikes. May have to find something further away from downtown, but near a metro station (I'm too old to do something like a hostel - not sharing bedrooms and bathrooms with strangers anymore...)
QOTD: chocolate "mousse". Cottage cheese, protein powder, unsweetened cocoa powder, and fake sugar whipped up in the blender (I add a little unsweetened almond milk if needed to get it going). Topped with some light Cool Whip and berries.
B: meal replacement shake, coffee with half & half
L: the other half of the grilled ham & cheese sandwich I had for lunch yesterday
AS: oatmeal topped with L&F creme brule yogurt
D: ?? maybe skyr with cranberry/cherry sauce and 2 T Grapenuts
have a great day, everyone!

Trish,
Your chocolate protein mousse sounds delicious. Sorry about the raccoon in your attic. They can be mean, so please be careful. When we first bought our house, we heard scratching on the floorboards under our house. We discovered we had a possum living in our crawlspace. We baited a live animal trap and trapped him and let him go up by the dump.
