What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu?
My dad, a dentist, had the material to make dentures and taking impressions. So he had the plaster of all four kids little feet on a shelf in his office. I had not seen anybody else doing that until about 20-25 years ago they came up with the kit. I remember calling my dad that he missed the train, and he could have gotten rich on that idea. I have my kids tiny fist and tiny feet when they were 2-4 months.

Mornin' All!
well MIL is back in the hospital again, this time with a bowel obstruction (this will be the third one in as many years). With the last two, she's had to have surgery - not sure what will happen with this one. They've been trying to clear this one overnight with fluids and if it's not successful, she'll have surgery today. We're supposed to go to Chicago today, but DH for sure will be staying home. I'm not sure if I'll be going or not - I need to wake DH up to discuss (he didn't get in until 3:00 am - they only let one visitor in per patient in the ER, so I stayed home and we just texted back and forth all night). If I go, I'll just go for the day instead of spending the night at my cousin's. I'm not sure there's anything I can do with respect to my MIL, but if DH wants me to stay here for moral support or whatever, then I will.
QOTD: as I mentioned the other day, I've been totally engrossed in a book that Jen recommended, "The Forever Witness" by Edward Humes. It's about how a murder that took place in 1987 was solved via genetic genealogy. QJB - the Bear Brook murders are referred to in this book, too. As far as movies, wow - I watch a lot of them. One that immediately comes to mind was one we watched for our documentary film discussion group recently - "Capturing the Killer Nurse" on Netflix. It was very good - and stimulated lots of discussion. There was another movie about this case that was based on the true story - but those of us who watched both - the documentary and the "movie based on..." far preferred the documentary. Not sure why they had to muck up a story that was fascinating and engaging all on its own. It certainly did not need any tweaking, modifications, or other subplots added in that were fabricated just to "juice things up" (I guess?)
B: plain skyr with fresh fruit (banana, kiwi, mandarins). Coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake (will take on the road with me if I go to Chicago)
L: if I'm in Chicago, then we're having lunch at Manny's (traditional deli) - so I'll probably get a pastrami reuben. Otherwise, ??
AS: protein bar
D: depends on if I'm home or not. In either case, ???
have a great Friday, all!

How awful for your MIL. That is just rotten luck. Thinking of you and your partner and of course your MIL.

So sorry to hear that. I've heard it is truly miserable to experience the pain from a bowel blockage. 3 in 3 years sounds unbearable. Poor thing!

The last of the human freedoms, to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances. (Frankl, 1946)
Good morning from gorgeous Mystic, CT. Made it. Yay! The family is all here and we?ve one house, one granny flat and four RV rigs set up. The grands are going wild climbing and exploring and coloring and getting spoiled. I think we are taking them to a ropes course this afternoon. I?m still undecided if I am a participant or a watcher. I believe I am strong enough, but this is a fear based thing for me and not sure if I can overcome that. Updates to come.
My food accountability was not bad. Excellent breakfast, skipped lunch, late afternoon snackies (where I may have had a few too many carbs, but nothing to worry about) and a great dinner. But I added lots of wine visiting with everyone. I?m going to be much more aware today.
QoTD: mine is very boring. We have been watching the Tom Selleck Jesse Stone movies when we can get service in a park. Simple, small town cop shows with all the crimes wrapped up in 90 minutes. BUT. Whenever you ask this sort of question I run and get my notebook so I can write all your recommendations down. Love this subject!
food is unknown, I am going to do my best.
