your state is different from ours - those were the only holidays we got off. Well those, and MLK day. The federal employees got a couple of additional ones, i think - like Presidents' Day (well never mind - you did say "government" employees and not just state government ones...so your comment, of course, would include federal employees)

Glad you got through the chicken! It's definitely a process.

Yep, the company I've worked for forever doesn't recognize bank holidays, so I forget them. Even a lot of the "major" ones here I'll work. You guys have a ton more, there!

Same holidays in Italy too; Monday we call it Pasquetta (little Easter), so you can imagine my dismay when I moved here and neither day was an official holiday.
My biggest surprise was Aug 15 (Ferragosto) that is dead mid summer and here in CA schools start around that day.

Good morning QJB and menuers,

That's a great photo of you two, and you look so happy! Love it.

QOTD - Have not tweeted, used Insta or TikTok, or any cash app program. Only recently caved to Uber.

I'm still in survival mode. The only finding from the EGD yesterday was a little bile reflux. In my mind it's good news that for the area they checked, there are no ulcers, hernias, adhesions, or blockages. Yay!

The surgeon who did the scope wasn't interested in answering questions. They prescribed that gallbladder protective drug that wasn't given back when I had surgery and I'll go get it once it's in stock. They did not seem concerned when I said their findings did not align with the symptoms and what I was feeling. It's bad enough now that I broke out my store of post-surgery drugs this morning to see if it can take the edge off so I can function.

I'm going to call them again today so I'm on record with everything at least. It's evolved into constantly feeling like bad food poisoning through my whole GI tract on top of the chest/back/rib/breathing pain. I'm also counting the rapid weight loss as a symptom. Anyone been through something similar? Dr. Google is of course all doom and gloom.

Today is just surviving. I have meetings that I need to fake my way through if at all possible.

I'm going to eat anything that stays down. It's mostly yogurt and protein shakes, though I made the mistake yesterday of trying a small piece of bread. Bad idea and do not recommend. I do wonder if I should try to not eat for a day or two to rest my system.

Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday, everyone!

Thank you! The heavy duty painkiller is definitely helping. I'd successfully avoided them for years!

I'm not sure fasting for a few days would help if your body is trying to heal something -- you need protein for that. You're still within your first year - have you considered going back to one of the early food progression stages (I would do puree if were you at this point) and keeping it simple, no experiments or testing the limits for a few days? That might be a better approach. If it's something structural/physical, not eating probably wouldn't resolve it -- but by going back to a simple easy to digest diet, you might identify any food intolerances that could be causing it.

Thanks, Jen. I always appreciate your advice! The bread was the first chewable item in a week. It's been protein shakes, yogurt, hummus, peanut butter, and very liquid protein oatmeal almost exclusively. I will go ahead and draw that hard line now, though, just for protein shakes and yogurt.
