Good morning all and Happy Tuesday,
I like the idea of a bacon alarm clock that wakes you up to the smell and sound of bacon sizzling.
It's been a morning so far and it's only 7am. I'm looking forward to having a free hour at 11am so I can close my eyes for 15 minutes.
QOTD - My nutritionist/dietician, as well as the office manager and support staff are amazing. They are so responsive and genuinely helpful. The previous dietician was the exact opposite. That dietician was the point person for my surgery. It took two years from first appt until I got the sleeve. Covid was a big reason but the dietician did not move things along. The monthly support groups are not very helpful. The previous dietician lists a fun recipe and shows what's in her pantry. Every month.
Accountability: two servings of cheese popcorn.
B: Dannon Light and Fit Coconut, Tangerine.
L: chicken skewers.
D: burrata, watermelon, mint. Probably some bacon since the meme wants me to eat some divine swine.

Good Morning! Great job for pivoting and getting the class done, I'm sure it was stressful but that it went amazingly well and nobody could tell. Bacon grease, I don't know if anyone else used to do this but when I was growing up we kept the bacon grease in a coffee can under the sink and would throw it away once it was full. I have a few meetings this morning that honestly I'm not looking forward to. (I typed out a whole paragraph then remembered this is a public forum so I'll just leave it at that for now.)

Have a great one!
I still keep bacon grease and use it. Sorry I had to fess up. I love wilted lettuce with bacon grease and mayo pored over fresh green lettuce onions and hard-boiled eggs. Only once a year but I love it.

"sorry?" I think its great to use bacon fat. It's natural.
I accumulate mine, sometimes "clean it" right away sometimes use as is.
Cleaning bacon grease: strain slightly cooled bacon grease and pour is in a glass container (I often use 12 or 16 oz measuring cup). add boiling water (I add at least 2 x of the amount of the grease. Stir together. The sodium and some of the water dissolvable stuff gets trapped in water, leaving the grease nice and "clean" on top of the water. Place in fridge for 24 hrs, then take it out, remove the solidified clean fat from the top. Sometimes there would be a residue on bacon fat that touches the water - the rest of the crap - it can be easily removed with a paper towel. When I have 10-16 oz of the clean fat in a jar - I may heat it up - to remove any water trapped in the grease. I can use liquid (cool) bacon fat to make homemade mayo or dressings.

My mom would take grease and drippings and put it on leftovers and dog food to feed to the wild raccoons. She despises wasting any kind of food and still throws scraps into the woods for the animals.
