What's on your Tuesday Menu?
on 3/28/23 2:18 am
Good Morning! Hope everyone survived their Monday! My day was not at ALL as I imagined. I thought we would be at the movies, shopping, and chilling all day yesterday but instead I remembered that the corporate cookie class was rescheduled to yesterday (I was thinking it was today until I noticed the date). Ahhh! So instead, I ran around like a nut, pulling it all together, and by the time I came home at 8pm I had too much adrenaline to sleep until I wound waaay down.
Hopefully today we'll get to the movies. I need to make a bunch more frosting for a Saturday class, but I'm hoping I can get it done quickly this morning.
QOTD: Is your WLS Surgeon's Office still accessible for questions and support, post-op? Mine's been great but since I moved in with Grim 6 years ago it's just really inconvenient to get there, so I haven't been to a support group since then. And I only go see her for support when I have an issue or concern. I'd like to go back to the Nut more often because I like her, but it's too inconvenient.
B: Protein Coffee & Egg Bites
L: ?? - hopefully we'll be out

Good morning QJB and menuers,
That's one heck of a revelation to have! Glad you remembered the class and made it all come together. Wow.
QOTD - Yep. I've never been to a support group since they're over an hour away but they do have call lines for both nurses and dieticians for patients that I take advantage of, including yesterday. I'm grateful for it but it does seem they're sick of me. I don't call often these days. Before yesterday my last call led to an ultrasound and gallbladder removal, so seems like it's been helpful.
The sleep medication seems to be helping. It's been a week today and does feel like my brain is starting to calm at night. We'll see what a few more weeks brings. I love it when medications list that they're "thought to work by x". Guinea pig me!
Office day again today but a bit later. I'll get in some cleaning and exercise at home this morning. I'm kind of afraid to stand up. This pain is not fun. It starts high under my right ribs and goes through to my right shoulder blade. I can feel it breathing and walking. It almost feels like a tight Charlie horse knot that needs to let go. I spent an inordinate amount of time bent backwards carefully over the arm of my couch to stretch yesterday. If anyone has ideas what it might be, I'm game. The surgeon basically said I'm still healing and to suck it up.
Accountability- Didn't eat the egg roll stuff or chicken. The low carb shepherd's pie is now my new favorite thing at the moment. Everything else on point.
Exercise - Just recumbent bike today.
Menu - Same as yesterday.
Cheers!

Maybe an internal stitch that hasn't dissolved yet?

Could be! The pain starts about four inches above my highest incision but I have no idea where the deep sutures are. They did say it could take a month or two for them to dissolve. Hmm. Thanks!

I remember a lot of weird pains that were 'normal'. They don't feel normal though, I get that. The worst one ended in a call to the doctor and I was told it may be a stitch and to give it time. No fever, I was eating, drinking and going to the bathroom. If I was that worried to could go to the ER. It passed but not without a lot of WTF thoughts.

That fits! Your body does some truly odd things in healing. It's amazing what we can go through. I'll sit it out. It's become a concern because of how much it's escalated in the last week, particularly since Saturday. Strangely, it hurts a lot more now than anything else from either surgery so far, so I guess it's a surprise since you hope it goes the other way.

Didn't you spend the last few days doing strenuous yard work? Your body isn't joking when it says it needs rest to recover. Maybe a little less sticks and a little more couch time might help. And heat packs. Who doesn't live a hood heat pack?

Hi! The 19th was my heavy day, and I was definitely sore the next day. This has ramped up in the last three days, but maybe it's related. Less sticks for sure for a bit. Should buy a heat pack! Thank you.
