Target protein numbers
It may depend on your blood testing results for protein numbers.
A typical is 60-100, specially if you are trying to lose some regain. I'm in a process to lose last 15 lbs of my "covid regain", and I try to get up to 100 gr of protein from real food - as in no shakes or protein bars. Having to get that much does keep me full longer, plus it doesn't leave a lot of room for junk food. My blood test for proteins were almost always low normal when i got 60-80 gr of proteins. so I'm sure I'm not at "toxic levels". I drink a lot of water, liquids in general.

I find it easiest to set a target calorie goal in order to lose. Then keep carb calories to a minimum. I always drink plenty, so I don't track fluids.
