I was afraid of dying from RNY. Dying did not even cross my mind when I had open heart surgery. I just wanted it fixed so I could go back home. It is not an easy experience but the surgeons know what they are doing and the hospital staff will give good care. I went to a nursing home for three weeks to rehab since I live alone. They gave me great care. After my eight weeks of recovery, I told the heart doctor that I had one important question.
Roller coaster rides have a sign saying not to ride if you have heart problems. Can I ride roller coasters? Doctor asked if I was serious. I said that I love coasters. He said, we fixed your heart, ride all the roller coasters you want. I went to Cedar Point to celebrate.

I hope your MIL is able to move forward with some form of treatment...I get that surgery is a big step but seems like it would help. Best of luck navigating those waters with her.

So sorry to hear about your MIL. Surgery is indeed very hard but I agree with you. If there is a chance I'd take others out with me I would try and prevent it.

Good morning QJB and menuers,
That's a lot you got done yesterday! Glad you're taking care of yourself today.
QOTD- I woke up with "more than machines " playing in my head for no good reason.
So I got in bed last night at 10:30. Woke up just after 12. Had a hard time getting back to sleep and just as I was drifting off came the yerfy dog noises again. At 3am I curled up on the couch. Just that kind of day. I'm typing this with one eye open and a dog on my lap.
I have my filling and a bonus, now, and can check off another procedure from the list of things I haven't had. It made eating and drinking fun since I couldn't feel half my face. I was glad for the anesthetic.
Office today, though later since we have a happy hour with one of our partners in town. I'll go. Will not drink, of course. Going to try and stop in unannounced for the InBody scan at the boxing place today and see if they have time for me. They said it's best not to eat or drink, so keeping that in mind for today's hydration.
Accountability- Pi day. I had a total of about 8 small bites of pie. Mmm, blueberry and key lime. Since they were feeding a ton of people the slices were tiny. Good for bariatric. Better when skipping crust.
Exercise - not today. The pulling is still unpleasant. I'll ask about it at my PCP appointment Friday.
Menu - Ratio yogurt, protein shake, Thai chicken, clam chowder, last of the red beans.
Cheers, everyone!
