What's on your Tuesday Menu

Happy Fat Tuesday!

Today I am heading over to my mom's house then we are going to meet the caterer who is doing their 50th anniversary party. Did I mention that it's back on and I am paying for it? Ugh. Seriously no idea how I got manipulated into it all over again, but there is no use being upset about it, because its happening.

Last week Grim and I were watching a show and one of the characters said, "it's like trying to explain Dutch to a dog." I decided this is me and accounting. Accounting is Dutch and I am the dog. I'm frustrated because, I sort of like it and it would be useful to know more about it for my small business, but this professor hasn't bothered to teach. Today starts week 6 out of 7 and we have had no lectures. Not even a YouTube video--just an enormous dense, dry text book. I feel like accounting is not something that should be self-taught, especially in a graduate program. Am I crazy?

Ok, enough of the complaining. Otherwise all is good.

QOTD: How many grams of protein are you averaging these days? I pretty much hit between 50-65 every day.

Accountability: Thumbs down. All good until about 7pm, then...nope.

B: protein coffee

S: babybel cheese & almonds

L: unsure - out with mom

D: either chicken or a veggie burger, depending on what I had for lunch

Hello all!

4 week anniversary today!

Hope the costs are well contained for you Queen!

QOTD: I get in around 130g at the moment. I Am obsessed.

Food is standard but my soft mince (ground beef) was glorious tonight, enjoyed it a lot! Chewing is glorious haha

I am getting hunger signals now and loving the idea of food. Wish that stayed away for longer but probably just shows I have outgrown the purée stage.

Have a great day!

Good for you on the protein! I was averaging about 90 - 110 in my first year, but now without protein shakes I find that it's hard to eat enough to get much more than 65g by eating small meals.

Congrats on four weeks, and some mince. I remember my first bit of soft food after weeks of water and protein shakes. Heaven!

I microwaved Eggs for my first soft food and got sick very quickly. I thought I would never eat again. It was 2 years before I could digest eggs. Nothing glorious about eating at that time for me. So glad it went well for you.

People imagine eggs as very soft, and should be easy. But a great many are like you, and had a real hard time with them.

I could eat a piece of steak easier than some foods I thought would be soft. It doesn't always make sense. New folks should know that sometimes they just have to switch gears.

I buy filet mignon and get a few meals out of a six ounce steak. I can eat that easier than chicken. Ground beef is the hardest for me to eat.

Make sure your signals are not crossed. Meaning what you think is hunger is actually a signal for thirst. I try to drink fluids before eating something unscheduled. I have noticed that when I am actually needing more water, I can confuse it with a signal for hunger since WLS. I believe this is quite common.

Thanks :)

I've done a lot of work on the Hunger Scale with my dietician so I'm generally comfortable with how to work through the feelings but it's a learning process for sure. Spoke to her this morning and she thinks the hunger sensations are probably driven by a need to up my calories slightly. They had remained pretty small daily, I hadn't monitored them at all, only focused on protein and liquid intake but we went through it today and she's like to see another 200-300 calories a day introduced over the coming weeks.
