Over the last several months I have started to have weight gain and my dr has suggested a new weight loss medication. I was wondering if anyone else had their surgeon order this to help with losing again? He told me that because I had a high bmi I will always have a battle with gaining weight again and that these meds can help with that. The ones he has suggested are wegovee and contrave. Would love to hear from anyone who has used them or anyone with suggestions.

Is it an injection? like Saxenda? I tried it but I didn't find it something I could continue doing but was successful for the period I used it at reducing hunger and meal sizes.

Is your issue meal sizes and choice of food? Have you lost restriction?

Choice in foods for sure. I haven't been meal planning/prepping or focusing on protein. I do feel like I can eat more at almost 2 and a half years out.

I had contrave before WLS. It is supposed to work on the part of your brain where you have cravings. For me it didn't work, and I ended up having WLS. I hear some people are being put on ozempic with good results.

Maybe I am just a failure at this. I had weight gain due to alcohol early on and now this.

Alex, I remember you from before and your struggle with alcohol. You are NOT a failure, you just failed to plan as you yourself mentioned in the prev post. You don't prep and you don't put protein first. You just have to get your head back in the game and work the program, because it works if your work it.
Also, coming here and posting on a daily basis is almost like a virtual accountability; try and do that.
You can do this, don't count yourself out.

Thank you Sheila yes I agree I did forget to prep and I started doing that again last night. So I have taken one step in the right direction. I really appreciate the positive words I know I can be hard on myself and it was really hard for me to admit on here my struggles with the alcohol but the weight gain from that was so devestating I want others to be aware and stay clear. I have gone back to reading some of the articles on this site to help me, I am getting into a gym and I am going to go back to my basic routine and work hard. I haven't made up my mind on the medication but I want to try this first. I owe that to myself. The meds could be a benefit but I will only use them if I need a bit more appetite control. It is so crazy how quickly your appetite can come back. I know not everyone has that happen this early but I sure did.

Great job. You have taken all the first necessary steps, now keep at it. Consistency is the key.
Regarding your appetite, I find it becomes a habit. When I go off the rails and ffor example want a snack before bed it becomes a habit, not that I'm really hungry, I want the snack. But the same way it becomes a habit I can break it and go to bed without the snack; it takes a while but also not eating the snack becomes a habit. It's hard work but it's doable, that's why I said consistency is the key.

You're here, and you're looking to get on track. You can do this. Like Sheila says, posting on the daily thread is a great form of accountability.
