What's on your Saturday menu?

I practically lived on unflavored Greek yogurt and cottage cheese for the first few months. I'd been buying ratio yogurt for the increased protein and did not have any on hand. Thank you for the reminder that it should be a staple!

QOTD. I eat, like 7 things. I like what I like, and don't feel the need to try different things. There's a whole rationale that makes perfect sense in my head.

But I don't like spicy things. Any spicy thing, at all. Or condiments. No ketchup, mustard, sauce, or anything. No lettuce, tomato, onion. Don't put crap on my food. I like the food, not the stuff on it. Except cheese. Cheese is universal.

Mornin' All!

well I decided to eat dinner last night before we went to the party in hopes it would keep me from splurging. It did - except for two brownies and a glass of wine near the end of the evening. My stomach bothered me too much the first hour or two to eat anything. A blessing in disguise. Something about that chicken salad I ate for dinner must have set it off - maybe the celery. Raw vegetables sometimes irritate my stomach (which i use to my advantage - I'll sometimes eat baby carrots if I feel a splurge coming on. If they start irritating my stomach, which they often do, it'll stop any thoughts of splurging dead in their tracks). So in summary, yes I went over my calorie limit, but it wasn't as awful as it usually is. I'm OK with that. Back to it today!

QOTD: I don't like most meat. I'll eat poultry and some fish. I also like some types of pork. But lamb - or ground beef - or any type of weird meat - nope. Will not eat. I also don't like a lot of beef things. Some are OK, though - like sirloin steak. Or flank steak if it's in something like a Chinese dish. But roasts, fatty steaks, and lots of other beefy things - nope. Ketchup also grosses me out unless it's with French fries.

B: plain skyr with berry compote, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: chocolate "mousse" with raspberries

AS: protein muffin or protein pudding

D: salad with chicken breast strips and light dressing

ex: something. Maybe a walk if the sidewalks are OK. Feeling like a blob this morning...

have a great Saturday, everyone!

Boy, I feel you on the meats thing! I have been experimenting like crazy in the past year with recipes and trying things, even those I know I don't like, in the hopes of making protein goals more easily without as much dairy. Mild fish is great, and I can do most seafood, some poultry, and the experiments.

Even though you see it on my menu, I'm not a red meat fan other than lamb, or a pork fan. Fatty meats are a no-go and I remember the one time decades ago where I ordered prime rib because of its popularity and then couldn't eat it.

But then, I habitually revisit foods in case tastes have changed. I'd also trained myself to eat things that literally taste like cardboard because mmm, fiber.

You'd think I'd have found a balance by now but the high-protein requirement after surgery has kind of reset the process for me.

Ah, preferences. Hope your stomach recovered from the raw vegetables!

What about poultry? Chicken has become a staple and is a good source of protein. I also like turkey.

Yes! I do a lot of chicken and turkey since it's high protein and can be very low fat. Have recently discovered chicken thighs for variety, too. Unfortunately, I've never been one who can eat the same few things. I was kind of hoping surgery would help me fully convert to relying on food for fuel instead of an experience. The hunger came back, though, so I'll keep experimenting to help it work.

Good morning ~ I love weekends and not having to get ready to go to work - it's everything right now sitting here with a cup of coffee all cozy! It's 39 degrees out but is supposed to get up to 65 today. I really want to go see A Man Called Otto. I also want to read the book - not sure. I'm always disappointed with the movie when I read the book first. We may go to the golf course to hit some balls and who knows what else.

QOTD - Brussel sprouts and kale - I don't actually hate them and if raw kale or shredded brussels sprouts are in my salad mix, so be it - but otherwise, cooked? No thank you. I don't get the obsession about them at all

Accountability - Naan at lunch yesterday - omg so good.

B- coffee x 4, eggs w/cheese

l - TBD

d - TBD

Depends on what we do today

Have a great day!

I'm highly sensitive to bitterness (which I found out is genetic) and sometimes feel like I'm ingesting quinine when I eat things like cabbage, Brussels sprouts, watercress, etc. I don't touch watercress anymore, but I can handle cabbage and Brussels sprouts occasionally depending on how they're prepared. Brussels sprouts are OK if they're swimming in cheese and bacon, for example. But yea - otherwise, no.
