What's on your Tuesday Menu, Valentines?
on 2/14/23 3:09 am
Hello Loves! Happy Valentine's Day! From a cookier's perspective... thank goodness this holiday is over... I don't want to see another pink cookie for a year. I slept like a rockstar and I am ready for today :)
QOTD: Any plans for valentines/galentines? Grim and I are going to see Titanic in the theater today. He has never seen it! Shhh...don't spoil the ending! We don't have reservations for dinner anywhere, but we might try to find somewhere that isn't busy. Nothing fancy--maybe one of our favorite pubs?
Accountability: I hadn't planned to eat breakfast but I ended up being starving at 9am so I ended up eating 2 cheese sticks and some almonds. Otherwise, on track! But I fully admit ahead of time that I will be eating my weight in movie theater popcorn today!
B: egg bites
L: greek yogurt
S: popcorn
D: not sure??

Good morning everyone and Happy VD!
Enjoy the Titanic! I think the movie is slightly longer than the sinking was, lol.
QOTD - nope, I have my workout with my personal trainer today, a HOA meeting on zoom that I might attend and possibly a Tuesday chat with the band I liked on Patreon but nothing else going on today after work.
Yesterday was successful, I hit my 50 mile mark on the rower and did a pilates jump class; managed to get my pedicure in and bookclub was short and sweet so it wasn't noticeable that I didn't read the book.
menu today is
coffee plus half and half X 3
ratio yogurt
pastrami and cheese on slider bun
chicken strips
Today is my 5 year surgiversary -- I always joke that I loved myself enough to make a change on Valentine's Day...but it was just a coincidence, it was the first date they gave me. I am very grateful for the gift of being healthier and fitter today than I was 5 years ago; for the discipline to do the work (most of the time) to get and stay healthier each day and for giving myself the grace to recover when I make not great choices. It's a continuum every day and some days are better than others!
A rundown of key learnings (some from experience, some from watching others) -
Hunger is not an emergency
Would you eat a chicken breast?
If you're going to go out drinking, do it with people you'd trust with your life, because you are
Move. Every Day. Try new things
Hydrate
Don't test to see if you "still" dump
You can eat around any surgery
They don't operate on our heads
Don't stop at KFC on the way home from the hospital
Maybe ice cream 3 weeks out isn't a good idea
Get religion about vitamins and supplements, monitor blood work regularly
Semi-frozen L&F is a fantastic treat, completely frozen L&F will break your teeth
Be careful where you try a new food or you might have to get very familiar with a public bathroom
Scales are very reflective, double check those pictures before you post them
No matter how fit you are, doing something new will make you feel unfit
My knees are much happier today than 5 years ago
Being fat is hard, staying fit is hard, choose your hard
It's kind of awesome to have my accurate weight on my driver's license:-)
Thanks to all of you here that have supported, humored, and befriended - whether we've met in real life or just through the computer screen!

It's really lucky. If any of you need a meat translation, just ask.

I remember following you, Amber and Cassie as you negotiated through the losing phase while as I was going through my very long pre-op phase. Your 11 pound loss in Iceland sticks with me for some reason.

That's funny, I don't remember that at all! There is so much change in that first 6 months though.

Happy surgiversary! You've worked really hard, and this is a big milestone.
Your list is pretty much what I gleaned from all those who came before me. You've done a good thing by sticking around to help others.
Is the Titanic movie longer than the actual catastrophe, or did it just seem longer?

It is actually longer! They say the Titanic sunk in 2 hours and 40 minutes but the movie is 3 hours plus.
