Good morning QJB and menuers!
Happy Thursday! Glad you got most of your frosting made. That does sound like a monster class, in a good way.
QOTD- Tons of things. Mostly healthy foods that went the way of the dodo. Wasa fiber crackers, several brands of tea, the Polaner all fruit spread I used to get seems to have gone poof but I haven't researched that one. Also a pair of Keen shoes I used to love and buy. They were men's but sooo comfortable I got more than one pair when I found out they were discontinued.
So, braces happened. I got to have they experience of tray braces installed on top, at which point the person got to inform me that I have the most sensitive teeth she's ever dealt with when she was trying to peel the tray off my teeth. Do not recommend. I'm not heat or cold sensitive but apparently pressure and feeling like someone is trying to yank my tooth out by the root will do it.
I do have a bit of a sore already and the talking funny is improving. Apparently it helps to sing along to the radio. At least, that's what the ortho folks told me, so that was my excuse to belt out songs the whole way home. The sensitivity/pressure/pain is definitely there but not enough for me to want pain meds. I was expecting much worse, so we'll see what happens. All in all, glad they're on.
Oh, I can't bite all the way down because of how they're applied, so chewing properly literally can't happen right now. This made eating an adventure yesterday. I decided on soup and wasn't keen on having to swallow pieces without chewing. My stomach wasn't, either! Then I got to learn the joy of stuff in braces and how long it takes me to feel they're clean. This could help my diet in the short term because I absolutely do not want to eat since I can't chew and then have dirty gear. Day 1 of two years, accomplished!
My family drove through the evening and night and got here just before two. They had to deal with a monumental amount of rain that slowed them down, but they made it. I'm trying to keep the dogs quiet so they can sleep until...whenever. My first meeting starts in an hour, so I'll hide in the disused den for that if it comes to it.
Accountability- did not make protein goals or eat enough. Chicken soup had gnocchi in it and I had a few. I'll also have to evaluate protein bars since the ones I have are pretty sticky and such.
Exercise - Not today with the family in the small house. Maybe walk the dogs.
Menu - unplanned. I'll get at least one protein shake and probably break out the unflavored stuff I still have for the no sugar added. I foresee a light menu the next few days and will focus on protein for healing.
Have a good day, everyone!

I felt everything you wrote about braces!! The tooth breaking feeling, the off bite - for me it got worse before better because I needed a ton of bite correction. It was so worth it - hand in there!!

Thanks! This is a scenario where it's glad to hear the message that it's worth it in the long run! Sorry you had to go through it, too! Two days down, sooo much more practice to go!

I am glad the braces went well and that the discomfort is minimal so far. It won't take long for the sensation of not being able to chew properly will go away. Our bodies are amazing on how we adapt to things like that. A toothbrush will be your best friend after eating!
Have a good time with the family.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to that time. I physically can't bite all the way down because I have an overbite and my upper teeth hit the hardware and literally prevent it. When mentioned to the ortho folks, they just said my teeth will move faster than I think. So, lots of soup?
And family time is great. :) I got to cook for them and they really enjoyed it, so bonus for me!
