G'morning all!

QJB - I def agree that statistics is more interesting than accounting.

Forgot to tell you guys about my donut experience while in SD during the weekend. I'm not a fan of donuts, but when my son tells me he has found a really good place for donuts that he wants to take me, I pretend I can't wait to eat said donuts. While in line he also tells me at this place everybody orders the Vietnamese coffee. He doesn't know what it is because he doesn't drink coffee but seems like everybody likes it. OK, I'm game. Between him and DH they order 6 different donuts and a dozen of donut holes. I order the Vietnamese coffee and off we go to sit down and enjoy our bounty. By the time I get to the donut holes half of them are gone to the point I thought I made a mistake and ordered half a dozen, but no, DH inhaled 6 donut holes between the counter and the table where we sat. I took a bite from a couple of different donuts and ate one donut hole, yup still not a fan of donuts. After that we go to REI. Half way through shopping I look at the floor and see ripples, almost felt like the floor is folding. Scared the heck out of me. Then I'm looking at signs and the words literally swim in front of my eyes. If you eat sugar with nothing else in your stomach but coffee that's what you get. Left them at the store and went to the car where I had my trusty epic chicken and protein puffs (never travel without them) and ate them. By the time they came out of the store I was feeling half decent again. As weird as it sounds I like it when I get these warning signs, because it reinforces that I can't have sugar (my weakness) and I should stay away from them.

QOTD: we don't have hs reunions in Italy, so I've never been to one. I went to one of DH's but it seemed like people were there to just check on each other and see who has done what. That's why he and a group of his buddies started their own yearly reunion, this way at least they see the people they actually liked and hung out with.

My meals yesterday:

  • Coffee
  • Home made egg bites + quest chips
  • Fage yogurt, jello, chomp stick
  • Cauliflower rice & eggs (my version of fried rice)
  • E: 5 miles wog

Happy taco Tue!

I'm not a doughnut person either. Sugar on an empty stomach is the worst! Thankful for the warning signs too.

I rarely eat a donut. I was in the store picking out a donut once and this guy came up to me and started a conversation about the donut. I said something like I just decide about once a year to eat a donut. He looked me up and down and said, you look like you eat donuts every day. I was too surprised to call him an asshole and just walked away.

My RH makes me stay in the straight and narrow for a few months after I go off course, so I get what you are saying! I wish I didn't have to keep learning it over and over again though

Scary donut situation, I'm glad you had your trusty protein foods on hand.

I don't think I have had donuts since surgery. When I ate donuts I prefer the cake or old fashion. I also hate that feeling after eating sugar. I get a weird numb feeling along with the vision thing, irritable, anxious. After getting those feelings I also think I should stay away from sugar but still eat it here and there. Funnily, when I eat "bad" food they never taste as good as my healthier options like my salads. I also really like chicken now.

There is a say in my country that roughly it translates to "if you haven't peed yet...the night is long!" In other words if you are successful and by the book the first couple of years, give it time. We have all been through this.
I didn't touch sugar or chocolate the first 2-3 years but as they say, they operate on our stomach and not our head, my chocolate/sugar addiction came back and I tried with small licks and taste. But I am still trying and fighting the good fight because I know I was given a second chance with WLS.

Oh, I know about the head hunger issues as I still have those urges that I try to work through frequently. Wanting to eat to just eat or for entertainment or because there are goodies in front of me. Keep up the good fight.
