What's on your Thursday Menu?

Morning everyone! That's some Pilates I could get behind :)
We had a fun little adventure yesterday. We drove up to New Hampshire, went out to lunch, went to the baking supply store I wanted to see, went to one of Grim's favorite lumber yards, then headed home. Nothing crazy, but it was a nice excursion! No more leaving the house for a few more days, though--the temps are dropping today and Friday's highs are going to be -20! Noooo thank you!
QOTD: Let's help out DCGirl who is back on the full liquid /puree diet for a few days. What was your favorite go to when you were in that phase? Because I had so many complications with the Lapband, I became a protein shake connoisseur. My favorite was a chocolate cherry cheesecake shake. Chocolate protein powder, with a little bit of sugar free cheesecake pudding powder, and sugar free cherry Toranni syrup. I actually wonder if I should start having some of my favorite favorite shake recipes again some times? Not for weight-loss necessarily, but I loved them and they were satisfying!
B: Egg Bites
L: Almond flour batter chicken nuggets
D: Scallops in the air fryer

Good morning QJB and menuers,
Sounds like a much-needed time away! Glad it was fun.
QOTD- Nothing fancy since I went from liquids to soft food and never did anything more than add Fairlife milk or broth to something. Early on, ricotta bake was the most elaborate and cottage cheese was heaven.
We'll leave late this morning to head back. The plantation tour and swamp boat ride were great and it was cold yesterday for here...something like 58 with stiff breeze. We did see a few gators and met the guy who inspired Ray the firefly from the Disney movie The Princess and the Frog. Great personality and talked a lot about how hunting gators works. Only threatened to throw me overboard once, so it all worked out!
Today we'll go by Cafe Beignet and then one museum on the way out of town. The rain is almost here and I'll probably be driving in it at least part of the way home.
Accountability- One small slice of fried green tomato, one small piece of a roll, three bites of cheesecake. I had all the seafood and liquid from my lunch gumbo, six oysters with etouffe topping for dinner, and a small cup of turtle soup. Two Built bars rounded it out for protein.
Exercise- I'm counting yesterday's bus ride, honestly. We were in the back and with the dips in the road it was like being on a roller-coaster. I went airborne a handful of times. My back hurts today. So...walking this morning at the gym in a minute and then driving today.
Menu - more water and Built bar. Forgot what I checked on the menu for this morning, I have other protein bars and such for car food.
Have a great day, everyone!

Did the plantation cover the full history, including the enslaved people? When I was in Tennessee a few years ago, we found that one of the plantations had added that as specific item called "Journey to Jubilee" and it was very, very interesting & very, very infuriating. I think they also spoke to it in the other tours but this was specifically covering the history of the enslaved people at that plantation. I have heard that more and more are adding the full picture to their education/tours, which seems only right.

I've been on a few plantation tours (not in a long time) and all of them always talked about some event where the slaves did something to save the family or property--which they use to highlight how much the slaves loved it there. My eye rolls were almost disabling.

That is horrible

You know, I was super conflicted about the plantation. There are some reconstructed slave quarters that serve as exhibits that felt super misleading - a plaque with one person's name and story when there'sno way that was a one person room.
On the other hand, they had a complete list of the slaves who had worked there over the operational years and pamphlets about slave life. The guide in the house acknowledged that everything was built as a result of slavery (as have all the guides) but they are definitely glossing over a lot of things.
The plantation owner had freed one slave during his oversight and there were copies of all the paperwork it took to do it. In Louisiana you had to post about your intention free a slave and give people a chance to contest it, then more hoops and paperwork. It also called out how freed slaves often stayed. In this man's case, his wife and children were still slaves. He eventually bought her freedom.
I'm glad there's starting to be an acknowledgement but...it's definitely not there yet.
