What's on your Monday Menu?

Many years ago, men used to say that the doctor removed the baby carriage and left the playpen. This was long ago, before birth control pills were invented. The only birth control then was condom or abstaining and many couples picked abstaining rather than risk a pregnancy if condom failed. I agree that hysterectomy does make life easier.

I was 43 and had a lot of fibroids and terrible cramps and PMS. When the PM**** I would fight about anything. One day my husband was taking a walk and found a red flag that had fallen off a truck. He asked me to put that flag on the calendar when I had PMS days and he would be sure not to disagree with anything I said. If the flag was up, he only said, "Yes, dear".

I woke up from surgery really sick and vomiting. I heard the doctor telling my husband, "She will be a lot easier to live with now".

Punching bags are both cardio and stress release plus anger management as a bonus! I love it.

G'morning all!

Had a relaxing weekend full of sunshine. Got together with 4 gfs for breakfast. Had half an idea of baking a coffee cake for the get together but got lazy and let go of the idea. Sat night DH and I went to a fairly new Italian restaurant opened up in town; as soon as there is an Italian restaurant friends ask me to try it and give my opinion. This one is a tiny one but a restaurant I would return to. The owners are both Italian and the whole time I was there we didn't stop talking. On the way home DH said I have a different demeanor when I speak in Italian; he said my eyes shine and I look so happy. I hope I don't like grumpy when I speak English because that's 95% of the time nowadays. On Sun we worked on a wall project that has been in the works since last Mother's Day. We have gone down from almost 52,000 pictures to about 1,100 and now we need to go down to about 50-80 to choose the top pictures that will go on the wall. It seems like a no nothing but try and do this project with somebody who has an engineer mind, and it becomes a non ending chore. We are making small progress every time we work on it.

Language is a lot more than just words. I heard or read a story several years ago about two sisters who were holocaust survivors. They were children at the time (i.e., during the holocaust). They lost their parents, so after the war, one went to a family in England, the other to a family in the US. They lost track of each other but found each other again when they were adults. One went to visit the other for a few days. It was the first time they'd seen each other in years. They really didn't "click" all that well - it was kind of awkward for both of them. But then the host was washing dishes after dinner one night and started singing a German song that their mother had taught them when they were children. The other started singing it, too - and afterward they started talking in German. The whole feeling changed - suddenly, they felt like they were with family again - all the awkwardness was gone. So there was something with speaking in English (which they were both fluent in, since they were raised by English-speaking families) that was very different from when they were speaking German - something beyond just the language - the change affected the whole relationship between these two women. So - not sure what it is, other than there's more to language than just words.

That sounds like one heck of a winnowing process for pictures! Don't envy you those selections. Maybe you can trade them out every so often to keep more in the rotation.

I don't understand 2021. Was there a wood shortage? My love language is chocolate.

That is the reason why the cost of construction went up so much in 2021.

Yep, the contractors I worked with were all booked for a year or more because there was such a demand to build and there were no supplies. Whew.
