Haha, thanks for the laugh! I hate admitting that I love the chocolate cookie part of Oreos. In my mind, they're more science project than actual food...darn those food scientists and their crafty, crafty ways!

Have you read Fast Food Nation? I can never not think of the fact that McDonalds French fry smell is just chemicals not the actual smell of McDonald's, lol

Nope, have not...but I just spent 20 minutes reading an excerpt that has solidified my position on being okay with the label reading and food screening habits. Geez.
The food industry uses our senses against us. Brands sold internationally are formulated to be sweeter and saltier in the US than other countries. All the snacks are made to drive you to eat juuuust one more. I love how MSG is still sold as a shake-on flavor enhancer.
All of that to say...didn't know about French fry science specifically but sadly, it's not surprising. Will have to read that book. Thanks for sharing! It's good to see behind the curtain, so to speak.

Yes, they do.
I learned to cook with Accent (msg) when I was little and to add it to anything that came out of a can! I don't anymore but every once in a while I remember that little "spice". Until I learned to really cook when I was around 10 our spices were salt, pepper and accent, lol.
The book broke the majority of my fast food habit for years, I did get it bac****il my pre-op behavior modification which finally broke it long term but the science behind all the food is really really fascinating...and once you know how it works you are never unaware of it!

Oh my gosh yes! Just layer advertising on top of it and the whole industry is just...toxic. almost literally! I do get a kick out of the fact that there's a really high chance the food you see on TV is not, in fact, food.

Good evening all and Happy Thursday,
I made it to post before midnight so this counts as posting daily!!!
Rough day today, major financial issues came up. Unexpectedly, my car needs repairs and I was turned down getting student loans even though I have $ available to borrow to my college limit. It's very frustrating. I got turned down because I only need 1 class to graduate. However, I'm taking additional classes and paying out of pocket since the state requires half time enrollment to keep my medical insurance benefit. Sorry, had to vent.
Otherwise, still super busy but was able to fit in a dinner with friends tonight. I ate 1/2 the burger without bun and 10 handcut fries. Super delicious after returning to my previous plan of one moderate meal of my choice per week.
QOTD - I am taking Bariatric Fusion and have been chewing up two chalky tablets 2x/day for the last year and a half. However, I'm using the rest of this bottle up and switching. I already have the new bottle of pro-care bariatric multi vitamin pill once daily & Calcium 600mg including Iron. I figure I'll save $35 by switching and won't have to experience that chalky taste multiple times a day.
B: Dannon Light and Fit Coconut Yogurt, Tangerine. Sugar free energy drink - 10 cals.
L: 3oz rotisserie chicken without skin, a little g.hughes sugar free bbq sauce and 8 grape tomatoes.
D: 1/2 Burger with grilled onions, merkts spread and bone marrow. Fries.
HW: 371 SW(8/9/21): 324 CW: 215. 0 lbs til goal of skin reduction surgery. I'm still looking for a new plastic surgeon.

Hope they're able to work with you on finances. The thought of student loans made me shudder but they enable a lot of things! Glad you were able to post.
I thought calcium and iron were supposed to be taken separately?
