re: targeting obese people - yea I get that. I remember a few years ago I was in the locker room at my gym after an Aqua Zumba class. One of the women looked me up and down and announced that she'd lost seven lbs recently. I told her that was great - but didn't bother to mention that I'd recently lost 200 lbs (I was still about 25 lbs overweight at the time, with lots of loose skin - so I'm sure she was trying to give me a strong hint that I needed to lose weight).

Ah, sometimes people can just be...wonderful. There really are differences in how larger people are treated in public. You never know the story behind someone else's journey, and so many people are quick to jump to conclusions. She would have been floored to know the truth, I'm sure. 25 pounds is nothing compared to what you'd already been through!

That would have been off putting and insulting. I am sorry you had to experience that.

It was, and I'll admit I was struck dumb in the moment at that kind of approach. Too bad I couldn't ungrease my mental gears fast enough to have a good response. Never have been good at off the cuff. :)
Shouldn't assume, but my guess is that a lot of us have been through some uncomfortable situations in our time. Just yuck all the way around. Probably from the same type of people who are rude to wait staff and skilled trades folks who do work I can't!

I was in a cross walk and was yelled at by 2 adult men. They were going at least 30 and I had the right of way. It was in front of a grocery store. I don't remember what was said but it was belligerent at the least. Still till this day I wish I would have said "I see you are making your mother proud." but was about 5 min late with the recovery. Still pissed about it.

I hate it when people feel the need to tell others what they should be doing. Like mind your own business.
I usually don't bother replying. The last time it happened someone told me wow you're really fat and tall. I answered back that I'd better write that down as I had NEVET noticed it before. My grandma always told me little things about how big I was or that she'd buy me new clothing if I lost weight. I'd be pretty if I did this or that. I seriously don't get people who feel like they have to put others down or guide others into what they think they should be.
oops went off on a bit of a tangent there! LOL

It can be good to get off your chest! And it can be so much harder coming from family. I'm sorry it happened.

Like the flying cars from the Jetsons, I sort of thought that I would see Jurassic Park in my lifetime. I remember reading the book and the process of creating the dinosaurs from DNA seemed feasible. It was a time when science was experimenting with the concept of cloning and eventually produced Dolly the sheep.
I have a 3-D DVD of Jurassic Park and have spent an afternoon or two immersed in the whole Jurassic Park experience where my living room appears to be full of dinosaurs. I really enjoy watching 3-D and wi**** had become more popular. About 10 years ago, there was a 3-D channel on cable and I had friends with 3-D televisions who were really into watching it. Then it just disappeared.

You know, the advances that have been made are astonishing but I am a firm believer in that...just because we can doesn't mean we should. AI worries me for that exact reason.
Whenever I get a hankering for dinosaurs, I just spend some time feeding the gators or crocs bits from fishing poles. It's a good reminder of why they've remained apex predators for so very, very long. :)

G'morning all!
So sorry QJB, but it's good that you are keeping your distance from Grim.
Darn, I have to go to court for jury duty even with the rain & wind we are having. I was hoping against hopes that my number wouldn't come up. Alas, it did. Last time I had to go in I got lucky. The judge was an acquaintance; her son and my daughter were in the same class and hung out, so we knew each other. The second I walked into her court room I smirked, because I knew she had to divulge she knew me and that would be an automatic rejection. I was juror #1 and the first one to be rejected. It also helped that I asked a snarky question, under the disguise of common sense, that you could see right away I'm against the defense. I hope I'm in her court again. Wish me luck.
Accountability: if you read my first post this year, I confessed I ate everything sweet during the holidays. I gave myself a 5 days egg fast break before I got on the scale. Going into the holidays I weighed 144.8. Sunday I weighed 148.4, not optimal but I can work with this; I wonder what it was before I started the egg fast. I am still grateful that I am battling the 5-10 lbs range instead of my original 110-120 lbs.
QOTD: heck yeah, would have loved to see the dinosaurs.
My meals yesterday (going back to IF and LC/HP today):
- Coffee + Barebells bar
- Costco egg bites
- Fage yogurt w/choc protein powder
- Cauliflower thins sandwich with salame calabrese, cheese & cornichon
- E: 4.5 miles neighborhood uphill wog (due to the amount of rain had to skip the woodsy part)
Happy start of the week!
