we do that on my father's b-day every year. He loved reuben sandwiches and carrot cake, so we do one or the other - or both - every year to celebrate his life.

Those years of finally having your own life after kids are wonderful. I started traveling for work, seeing a lot of the world, went back to college and got another degree. Took on a lot more responsibility at work and had a lot of fun.

There seems to be a lot of freedom in getting to know yourself again once the kids fly the coop. My best friend's youngest is now 22 or so and she's going through that same phase. She'll always be a momma bear, and she isn't a grandmother yet, but she's relishing the time for herself.

On the other side of that...my sister's youngest is headed for 18 and her kids don't seem to be in any hurry to get licenses, jobs, or move out. Same goes for my ex-partner's almost 17 year old. In this economy, tons of kids are just staying home and tapping out! Or maybe it just feels that way.

Good mornin everyone!

I am home and super sore. I ended up with a foley so I wouldn't have to get up. That was hard having to stay laid down. The hydrocodone is making me kind of woozy though. I don't get to shower for 48 hours...yuck.

I'm going to take it super easy and I appreciate all the well wishes!

QOTD: like Jen I was born "old". I didn't enjoy childhood much. My first best friend was 75 years old when I was 7 or 8.

Glad you've made it home! The more time you spend sleeping now, the quicker you'll heal and get a shower. Time for recovery.
