What's on your Tuesday Menu?
Good Morning Queen JB and Mneuers,
I am so happy for the 14 day break you have. Just getting back after a 6-day break and I could use another 8 days. I'm going to play catch-up here at work today and tonight I will get my color and cut.
My hand is doing great. I am able to use if fully with little pinching due to the stitches. I did put a bigger bandage on then I have had on it to come to work. Going for a little sympathy here so no one accuses me of taking time off I did not need. Let's just say I put all of my Christmas away yesterday. 25 lugs up and down the attic steps and was done by 1 yesterday. So that is how good my hand feels. However, DH was not happy with me last night. He went to bed and kept hearing something. He sleeps in another room because I hate waking him when I have to be at work. I hear him yelling. I guess a bat came out of the attic when I was doing the decorations and made camp in that bedroom. He finally found it threw a towel over it and got it outside. Of course, it was all my fault. I am glad my door was shut, or he really would have been mad seeing how hard I was laughing.

QJB-it sounds like you are having some nice days off. Enjoy your time before school revs up again. Yum, fish tacos.
Today is a workday. Coming into work it felt like I haven't been here in a while. I guess with only being in the office one day since the 23rd it actually has been quite a few days. I need to mentally get back into a work mode, I feel like I should still be on vacation/holiday. I have decided that I need to add some weight training to my workouts. I am going to try to get to the work gym 3x week to do a quick weight circuit. It will get me away from my desk since I seem to get to the office then stay at the desk all day focused on work. I do tend to get a little restless by the end of the day so it will be a good break in the day.
Yesterday, I actually did some housework. I neglect things like dusting and mopping the floor but really feel good after those things are done. Ran a few errands and got my Pilates workout in. We had a different instructor than usual, which is good on occasion since they vary up the exercises. It was a rigorous sweaty workout!
QOTD: Nope. I took French in HS, passed with a C. I tell people I can barely speak English let alone another language. Pronunciation is challenging and I never understood how words could be either feminine or masculine.
Accountability: Good, added a few extra sf chocolate squares but within my calories.
The usual meals...
E: Weight circuit, 60 minutes hot yoga.
Have a terrific Tuesday.

Oddly, I think English is the only western language where nouns AREN'T either masculine or feminine (or neuter - German also has neuter nouns). English nouns WERE masculine or feminine centuries ago, but somewhere along the line, noun genders were dropped. Thank God.
EDITED to add: I was curious, so I just googled this. Gendered nouns were dropped from English in the 13th century (well, the genders anyway - not the nouns themselves!)

That's interesting to know. Had learned some years ago that Frisian is the closest language to English (since my partner was Frisian and his parents told me), which led to a whole language comparison conversation about how they evolved. Surprisingly, Google also just told me 56% of languages are not gendered. Super scientific, I'm sure!

My only frame of reference for Frisian was the horses (which are beautiful) so it's cool to learn about the language (and people not horses, lol)

The horses are definitely beautiful! And I have to say, Frisian is familiar if you've spent any time reading Middle English or Old English. Kind of interesting to see the divergence over time, though, since it's pretty different from modern vernacular. There's also a Frisian dog breed, if I remember correctly. :)
