How do you make your compotes? It looks delicious and I'm always on the lookout for preserves that don't have a lot of sweetness.

I cook down fruit (usually berries - although I've also done diced apples) with artificial sweetener and/or SF Torani syrup (or other brands of SF syrups) - plus I usually add some spices (cinnamon, usually - but in the cranberry one I add rosemary and allspice) - then always some vanilla extract at the end. Some of them (like the cranberry one) I need to add some water or more SF syrup to since the liquid absorbs too much (juice would work, too - although you'd have to factor in the calories. But two or three tablespoons of compote isn't going to have much juice in it). Others - like blueberries - I usually have to add some cornstarch mixed with water since they put out A LOT of liquid as they cook down, and you can't really cook it long enough to absorb a lot of tha****er. And I always use artificial sweeteners - rather than SF syrups - with blueberries since the last thing I need with that one is more liquid! Strawberry/rhubarb is a summer favorite. That one often thickens up nicely in the fridge..

Your breakfast looks yummy!

An advantage with traveling to foreign countries now is google translate. I have not used it but other people I know have and said it has been very helpful with communication when traveling to non-English speaking countries.
