QOTD- I would like to join the SCA and learn how to use my swords, and meet some new people.

My roommate had his girlfriend over on NYE, she seems really nice. I'm not usually that social but I need to get better at it. I always worry that people are judging me, and that my house isn't clean enough.

I'm hoping for some work today, it was a fairly slow week last week and I can use the money. I'm not sure that I will get anything today since I think it's a Holiday.

I made it to the nature park on Saturday, it was cold but no rain, just drips from the trees. It was so good to be outside and see the trees. I'm going to try to get moving more. I want to go swimming, it's been so long. Since the start of the pandemic I haven't been to the gym I need to get back in the habit of going.

I almost gave up on watching the Seahawks but somehow they managed to beat the Jets. But even if they do make the playoffs they will just break my heart again.

Have a great day everyone!

Oh wow, are you me? The SCA was a lot of fun but soooo clique-y where I used to live. Also, cost money and I was poor. :) Hope you're able to join and do some fun activities!

If you ever worry your house isn't clean enough, watching the occasional episode of Hoarders might help. Some of those poor people's homes...just...oomph.

Mornin' All!

I have to take my car in this afternoon for routine maintenance (oil change, transmission fluid, and tire rotation), and I think I'll go to a Zumba Gold class at my gym later this morning. Not much going on other than that. DH has the day off today (since Jan 1 was on a Sunday), so in light of QJB's goal for the year, maybe we'll go check out something new. There's a new cafe outside of town people have been raving about (more a coffee/pastry place, but they do have sandwiches as well) - or else there's the Van Gogh immersion thingie going on in town, too, which we've yet to go to - so maybe one of those.

I was just reading about Smart BMI. Someone on the internet was saying that her PCP recommends that his patients age 60+ use that instead of the regular BMI calculator. It gives you the same BMI, what's different is the ranges of what is healthy. My current BMI is 27 - which is overweight - but according to this, it's a healthy weight for my age and I won't get any additional health benefit by losing 15 lbs (which is what I'd like to do). Although I'm doing this more for appearance than health, since I think I look better at a lower weight. Although about this Smart BMI - this reflects what my current and former PCP say - that they like to see their older adult patients at either a high normal or "overweight" BMI (as long as they're otherwise healthy), since that range has the lowest morbidity rate for older adults. I don't know why I'm even talking about this other than it makes me feel slightly better about being overweight (?). I'm still pushing to get back to a normal BMI, though - again, mostly because I look better - but also, being "overweight" plays with my head.

QOTD: I would like to go to Scandinavia this year, and my second cousin in Chicago wants us to go together (she's been there a bazillion times and really wants me to see it and meet some of our relatives who live there), but it's going to come down to how the mothers (mine plus my MIL) are doing. I really wish I could get my mother into assisted living so I could live my life without worrying about her living alone and something happening to her. I'd also sort of like to go on a Road Scholar trip somewhere this year. I love the idea of doing something new every week, even if it's just trying a new restaurant (or maybe a new bike route). I think I'll make that a goal, too!

B: yogurt pie with a dollop of light Cool Whip, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: I might make oatmeal (with flax seeds) - topped with some plain Greek yogurt and fruit

AS: protein muffin

D: might make a salad - or maybe an Impossible Burger or one of those fake chicken patties on a slim bun

have a great day, everyone!

Looking forward to getting back to a normal schedule tomorrow, putting the holidays and 2022 in the rear view. I have high hopes for a healthy 2023!

It's amazing how much a regular stretch session can help. I have noticed that they do a lot more of that in schools these days....I'm all for less Presidential Fitness test torture and more yoga and stretching for kids, lol

I think they do more "life sports" than they used to - although I don't know about yoga. I used to hate gym - it seemed all we ever did was team sports - volleyball, then basketball, then softball. I think that's OK, but they really needed to mix it up with things we were likely to keep up with as adults. Like maybe badminton, cardio dancing, swimming (if the school has a pool, that is...), tennis. Things like yoga, Pilates, and Tai chi would be great, too. I think I would have liked gym better if we'd done that, too.

yea we did that one year - I think in 9th grade. I think the girls liked it more than the boys did.

Good morning everyone. I feel like the past 2 weeks have been a blur with being off work and bad weather. I am ready to go back to work today.

I am really feeling determined to get back into a good routine with my diet and exercise. A picture popped up of me from FB memories 5 years ago. I looked really good! I want to get back to that. I guess I am just feeling frumpy.

QOTD- This is something small, but there is a meditation class that is offered Saturday mornings. I would like to try that. I think it will help with my anxiety. I remember when I was younger and fearless. Now I get hot when I merge while driving.

Food for today is going to be simple because I need to go grocery shopping and that's not going to happen until Wednesday.

2 scrambled eggs with 1/2 c. cottage cheese ( Eggs are 5.99 a dozen at our store, ugh!)

Crockpot chicken cooked in salsa

protein shake at work

not sure on dinner, maybe more chicken or possibly cod

Have a great day everyone
