What's on tap for your first day of 2023?

Good morning Mel and weekend menuers,
Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all had a good night. Though I hadn't intended to be up, I was cooking and has to wonder what the bangs were that were scaring my rescue dog. I'm not sure where the celebrations are that I can hear them out here, but hey, I knew when it was midnight!
Mel, positive and calming thoughts for your upcoming surgery. You're almost there, and it will make such a difference for you.
QOTD- I'm looking forward to some form of international trip this year, and to going to New Orleans with a good friend of mine at the end of the month. Many other things, I'm sure, but those are top of mind.
Today I'll finish meal prep. Hopping John is on. Just need to make the rest of the greens, some keto cornbread, and portion out the stew, chicken soup, and gnocchi I made. Also some more cleaning and just doing things here. Good times.
Accountability- Rao's chicken gnocchi soup.
Exercise - more recumbent bike.
Menu - tons of water, one giant cup of tea. Tuscan Italian sausage gnocchi with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and shallots. Hopping John. Fairlife protein shake, extra collard greens.
Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. Cheers.

Good Morning Mel and Menu Friends.
Happy New Year 2023! I went to bed before midnight since I was tired. I really don't see the sense in staying up to welcome the new year if I am tired. DH was tired at 10pm but determined to stay up with the kids.
Not much planned for today except a workout and maybe a trip to return some shoes across town. Assuming the store is open.
QOTD: nothing yet!
Accountability: excellent
same ole same food choices.
E: inferno pilates 60 minutes
cheers to everyone and Happy New Year's Day! Yea

I use New Year's Day to reflect on what has changed in a year. Since I moved to an area with mostly senior citizens, there were no fireworks here last night. We had a pre-New Year's Eve party on Friday and wished everyone Happy New Year. We started at 5:30 PM and were all headed home by 8:00 PM.
I have always had a landline phone. It was part of my home security system, so I kept it. I got rid of it when I moved, and it is so nice without it. Many people had my number and most of the calls I got were time consuming and annoying. Now only people who have my cell can contact me. When I come home there is no voicemail light blinking and no loud rings interrupting my day. Best thing I did this year was to get rid of that phone.
I am looking at 2023 as a clean slate and making plans for more exercise and better social life. I am no longer in fear of COVID although I know it is still around. On Tuesday I plan to go to water aerobics for the first time since the pandemic. I want to join a local book group and I want to start getting massages.
My niece turned one yesterday and we had her birthday party today. Her parents are creating a "time capsule" and we each wrote her a note to be opened and read on her 18th birthday. I think it is a great idea and hope I am still around in 2039.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
I hope you are also, Mary.
