Is Search the one with the recipes? I just put it on my hold list at the library; I love a book where you connect with the characters that much!

Yes! By Michelle Hunevan. And if you are not a church person (I am not) don't let that angle stop you. It is very "un-churchey" If that's a thing considering what the novel is about. I hope you enjoy it.

Mornin' All!

A friend invited me to go to a small gathering with her and her husband this evening (around dinner time - we're all old!) I feel like I should bring something along - I thought I'd make these Brazilian cheese balls that I'm planning to bring to another party in a couple of weeks, so this smaller group can test them out first - but this would involve going to the store for a couple of ingredients, plus it might mean extra cheese balls that I'd probably bring home (unless someone else was willing to do so). And I doubt they freeze well. Don't need that. I need something that, if they're not ideal for my eating plan (other than as an occasional treat) and they don't all get eaten there and no one wants to take them home, then at least I can toss them in freezer. Hmmm...I need to think about this. Other than that, nothing much going on today.

QOTD: I haven't done much pleasure reading this year because I do so much reading for my classes (plus my children/young adult book group, which reads stuff you guys probably wouldn't), but I did enjoy "Midnight Library", which i only knew about because it came up in this group a few months ago. I don't listen to podcasts - I'm definitely a visual learner, so I have a hard time listening to things and getting much out of it. Movies - OMG - so many. I'm in two film discussion groups and also take film classes occasionally (will probably take one next semester, in fact). I could recommend so many - I wouldn't even know where to begin. The last one I watched was "Capturing the Killer Nurse", a documentary on Netflix (heard one of the main people in the documentary interviewed on BBC World Service - I was so interested in the interview that I had to watch the documentary, too). I definitely wouldn't rate it as one of the top films I've seen this year, but it was very engaging.

I'm going to try to eat lightly today because of the gathering this evening. I don't need to blow it today...

B: plain skyr with fruit compote, coffee with half & half

MS: I haven't even had breakfast yet (it's 10:15 here), so I'll have this around lunch time and then have a late afternoon lunch so I won't be hungry when I go to the party. Anyway, this will be a protein shake, most likely

L: I made chocolate "mousse" again last night (out of cottage cheese and protein powder - with unsweetened cocoa, artificial sweetener, and enough unsweetened almond milk to get it going in the blender) - so maybe that topped with raspberries

AS/D: not sure since I'll be at the party

Are they pao de queijo? If so, they freeze beautifully! (I realize it's probably too late for you today but in case you need to know in the future). I have a bag of them in my fridge right now, it's such an easy and delicious GF treat.

Yep - pao de queijo!! Good to know that they freeze well! And yes - too late for today, but I'll make them for another party on Jan 20. For today's I made oatmeal/cranberry bars. Somewhat healthier than some treats (well, just because of the oatmeal and cranberries - not the butter and sugar!), but one is OK - AND...they freeze really well. About half of them got eaten at the party, though, thankfully (they're baked in one of those 8" square pans, so fortunately, there aren't too, too many of them to deal with....)

Bobs Red Mill has the easiest recipe I have found on line, super easy and delish. when I was working in São Paulo I would have pao de queijo and linguiza sausage and it was so good. I wish I could find linquica here.

Love that meme, Jen. You are like Superwoman to me with how many things you get accomplished and all of your exercise.

I am making pork and sauerkraut in the Instant Pot. Last night I was at a wine and cheese party at a neighbor who completely renovated their condo and it felt like I was sitting in a makeover TV show. Everything they did is beautiful.

I tried a Christmas wine made with chocolate and oranges. I guess I am not the right person to appreciate wine because it just tasted like strong red wine to me. A few people said they could taste chocolate.

Someone here mentioned the movie, "Knives Out". First time I heard of it and I watched it last night and really liked it.

Have a happy new year everyone.

There is a sequel out now called Glass Onion you can watch next:-). It doesn't have Chris Evans in that sweater so is automatically a lesser movie but still enjoyable!
