Good morning, everybody!

I had a rough travel day on Friday. Left the hotel at 11:00 AM and got home at about 12:00 PM.

I kind of expected to have a long day at airports, but my flight only left 7 minutes late. Unfortunately, we diverted to St. Louis when we were about 20 minutes out of Chicago. We had a four hour wait on the tarmac in St. Louis and another 45 minute wait on the Tarmac in Chicago when we landed. And then an hour plus for baggage to come out.

Poor Marilyn left her tennis party at 3:00, stopped at the butcher and then spent 7 hours at the airport waiting for me. Because of the extreme weather, they let the homeless into the airport, which in the grand sense was the right thing to do given the conditions, but made her day more difficult.

When I got home, I couldn't test my blood sugar because my meter was too cold. DD made it home on Saturday morning. Marilyn asked if I wanted her to go with me to pick her up and I said, "no I want you to go back to bed and get some rest."

I am off of work this week, which means I don't work unless somebody needs something done. I am sure that there will be some calls, etc. Today we are going to an escape room and then to a new Greek restaurant that looks good. I need to go to gym this morning, also.

QOTD: I wen****er skiing once as a kid and couldn't do it. I haven't snow skied since 2014. I was only a poor skier at best, and its been so long that I am afraid of serious injury. So I will go with water.

Breakfast: Egg sandwich

Lunch: Leftover tenderloin

Dinner: Greek, maybe eggplant

Have a great day, all!

Mornin' All!

Christmas was OK. My MIL didn't show up because she's still dealing with major anxiety issues (DH is going over there this week to help her pick a psychiatrist. I'm thinking we'll need to take charge here because she's not doing it herself. She seems almost non-functional, and this has been going on FAR too long), and my niece was gracious enough (choke) to stop by for like an hour, because she was doing things with a friend. So it was mostly DH, me, and my mother. Oh well. The three of us had a nice time, at least. We worked on a puzzle (my aunt and uncle send us a family jigsaw puzzle every year for Christmas), watched TV, and talked to my sister on the phone. Christmas is so different for us than it was years ago, when we weren't so old and scattered (as in - around the country...). But it was fine. I ate more than I intended, so it's back to it today!

QOTD: I went snow skiing (downhill) once and didn't love it. I guess I should have given it more than one try, but I disliked it enough not to. I never got off the bunny slope. I've never liked sliding on ice or snow, so intentionally doing it while wearing long boards on your feet just seemed nuts to me. I tried water skiing once at age 15 and was never able to stand up - I got pulled behind the boat until I realized I needed to let go of the rope. Multiple attempts - didn't work. I don't think I had the arm strength. So via the process of elimination, I'd say cross-country skiing, which I've kinda always wanted to try, but being outside in winter isn't my "thing" - so I have yet to do it...

B: plain skyr with cranberry/cherry compote, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: lemon yogurt pie (with blackberries baked into it) with a dollop of light Cool Whip

AS: piece of sweet potato/cranberry/date bread (leftover from yesterday) - has some protein powder in it. Maybe a L&F to go with that if needed

D: some leftover salad from last night - with some kind of protein

ex: there's a low-impact dance cardio class at my gym at 10:45 - may go to that since I've OD'ed on youtube videos

have a great day, everyone!

I hope your DH is able to help your MIL; that's got to be so hard for her and I think when you are deep into an episode like she is, taking that first step to get help is overwhelming. I've always been glad that I don't have those types of anxiety issues, it makes everything so much harder. She's lucky to have the help!

QOTD- I loved water skiing, but I only got up once. Not a fan of snow skiing, my idea of skiing is from the lounge, in front of the fire, with a drink in my hand.

We only got about an inch of ice pellets, then freezing rain so I didn't get out this weekend. It mostly melted off yesterday. I was home for Christmas, my roommate got me a ton of stocking stuffers. I didn't get anything for him so I made him Oatmeal Raisin Cookies. I felt bad I didn't have anything for him.

Today I really want to get out of the house, it is only raining. I've been craving Earl Gray tea, I used to have a ton of different kinds of teas but got rid of them when I moved to Maui. So now I need to restock them. There is nothing better than a good hot cup of tea.

I've been watching too much TV lately, and reading a lot but I guess that comes with winter.

Jim so glad you made it home, but what a long day! Marilyn is a gem!

Back to work for me, have a great day everyone!
