Hump Day Wednesday, what's on your plan?

Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday and happy Solstice! Tomorrow will have more daylight than today, yay! And today is also my last day of wor****il next Tuesday so double yay!

I loved this tweet above when it came out earlier this year....and to be honest, given how cold it will be everywhere the next few days, I might be tempted to let any cat in!

I did my longest ever row, just over 13,000M (around 8 miles), in 58 minutes, it was along a river in Zambia and there were hippos and crocodiles to see so that was fun. I'm very glad I have a massage scheduled for tonight though...and I do have dentist appt at noon so hopefully that goes well.

QOTD - any projects/things/activities you have on your list to get done before the turn of the year? I need to go through all the closets and finish re-arranging my bedroom.

menu today will be

coffee plus half and half X 2

morning round plus PB

Yogurt

bunless burger for dinner

Have a terrific day people!

Good morning Jen and menuers,

Congrats on that rowing session - it sounds like it was beautiful!

QOTD- would like to do a significant yard cleanup that will depend on how long I stay in Georgia. If I get there. Much burning and such to be done.

I'm in the very empty office today and for part of tomorrow, then off for a week, plus Friday. I'll be dropping in on work to keep things moving.

So yesterday I got a call from the sleep doctor with some good news. My hypopnea/apnea is resolved, along with the PLMD I didn't know about until last week. Yay! Then I made the mistake of going in to read the notes online. There's some stuff to Google since I only spent 2% of the night in restorative sleep. And the doctor's notes included observations of obesity and the recommendation to lose weight. I'll admit, I was surprised, crestfallen, and then a rainbow of emotions I'd rather not admit to. Sigh. Moving on!

After work today I'll prep to drive so I can try to beat most of the weather after my dentist's appointment tomorrow. I would rather be away by the time the hard freeze hits. So long as my mom is still negative for covid by tomorrow, that's the plan, so I have some prep to do. Where did the time go?

Accountability- Good. Not eating or drinking enough though.

Menu - Egg and avocado, lunch with a coworker so will pick something appropriate, protein shakes. Have had half my water intake for the day already, so off to a good start there.

Have a wonderful day folks.

You should celebrate that you are already taking the actions to improve your weight and health vs being upset at the comment. You are not at goal yet but you are on your way. Celebrate that and the sleep apnea being gone!

Definitely celebrating! The evening of the sleep study I was chatting with the nurse who wired me up. She had a VSG three months ago and we were comparing notes because she saw on my intake form that I'd had surgery.

When she unhooked me the next morning, she asked how far off from goal I was because I looked close. I'm so, so happy for how far I've come and all of the victories along the way.

I'd just be lying to myself if I said it didn't get to me a bit after having lost a good amount of weight. Of course, the doctor doesn't know me from Sam. :)

Also a significant celebration around not having to cart around the CPAP machine and figure out how to fly with it next month.

Thanks for the reminder. :)

It's hard to tell with Selfie Magic, but it didn't look to me like you had 40 to go. With that said, I am sure that there are enough people out there saying "you have lost enough already" and pushing food on you. I do not want to be one of those. Keep going until you get where you want to be.

Selfie Magic! I love that. Don't get me wrong, what I shared was definitely my most flattering pair of jeans in that they have a high waist and narrow legs that help compress all the loose skin I'm accumulating on my stomach and thighs. Those and a form-fitting tank top are the best magic I have, other than the "crop" button to take out some of the lovely stalls included. :) Who needs shapewear when there are skinny jeans?

And I hear you. Not sure I can lose 40 and be healthy, which is part of why I'm super interested in a body composition scan and my clinic follow up next month to get their feedback. I have that set as my "potential regain" buffer goal since healthy and maintaining are my long-term aims. My clinic's goal for me is 156, which they told me was assigned as an arbitrary number in the healthy BMI range. So...we'll see!

And the tamales in my fridge would agree with you. :)

You can lose 40 pounds and be healthy. Lose as much as you can during the honeymoon period, because bounceback is real. I really loved the year or so when I was "too skinny" and had trouble finding professional clothes that were smaller than size 4. I had a tummytuck consult on my one year surgery date and had the surgery a few months later. It made so much difference for me. I remember someone saying in a book, "weight loss surgery gave me back my health and plastic surgery gave me back my self-esteem".

I do intend to try. :) just not sure to which point my body will cooperate. Glad you were able to have the surgery and help find yourself. That seems like a huge step in many people's journeys.

I felt that way when I had some kind of mini-exam to get a rebate from my health insurance company (now we have the option of uploading a copy of our annual exam report at our PCP's office instead, so I've been doing that instead of having these stupid "mini-exams"). The woman who did it measured my waist, which was like 36" at the time (not sure what it is now - probably not much more than that - or maybe about the same since I've had skin removal since then). She told me that my waist needed to be 35" maximum, so I got "docked" for that. WTF? I'd lost over 200 lbs! (which of course I told her..) I know women's waistlines need to measure 35" or less to be considered "healthy", but seriously? After losing a crap ton of weight, I didn't want to hear this kind of nit-picking. Sheesh. I wasn't even "overweight" at the time (I am now, though...by about 12 lbs. But at the time, no...).

Those things are just formulas.

My Baritrician was reading my file and talking about overweight vs. obese, stopped mid sentence looked up at me and said "forget what I was talking about"
