Hey all! Happy Thanksgiving! My meme is one of my cookies today, lol.

Yesterday was NOT a couch day for me after all. Long story that I won't get into, but it turned out to be one of the most stressful days I have had in a long time :( I am just hoping that today is easy-peasy. We are hosting but it's a very small crowd this year.

QOTD: Let's do it. What are you most thankful for this year? Despite random stressful days, I have a wonderful life. I have a really loving and caring network of people who support me. I am grateful that I am able to devote a year to learning and growing, and I am grateful for all of you, too!

B: just coffee

Appetizers: cranberry stilton cheese

Dinner: Turkey, a few spoonfuls of the following: mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, butternut squash

Dessert: A few bites of chocolate pudding pie (no whipped cream)

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Good mornin and Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Sorry to hear you had a stressful day JB :(

enjoying the calm before the storm. We'll be getting the turkey breast on at 6. They've hedged the snow accumulation way down so I am happy about that! My body just doesn't handle the cold crap anymore.

QOTD: thankful the pain pump trial was a success. Thankful for all of you and my mom. AND super thankful for fresh blueberries for my lovely oatmeal this morning. Sometimes it's truly the small things that can bring you joy.

Good morning QJB and holiday menuers,

JB, hope you're okay, and that today is a better day.

QOTD- I'm grateful for my family, friends, community, and life. It's been a journey, for sure.

Took the dogs out for a walk this morning and my older boy was lagging, so only a half mile so far. We did get to Costco yesterday...and it wasn't a madhouse somehow. I found a few things to take home with me (Costco pack of seaweed, Fairlife shakes, mixed mushrooms and more!). Since the family wants to do a small dinner at around 2pm, I'll start prepping this morning. Turkey is being baked this year so we'll be vying for space in the oven.

Played pool with my mom yesterday. I go through phases where I seem really good or look really bad. There's never a medium. Last night was good for the first four shots, followed by one of my worst losing streaks in years. Good time for chatting though. We've also been playing Scrabble. We don't keep score though, and whoever can use their last tile first wins. Family. :)

Accountability- breading bits from what they call chicken planks. On point otherwise and hit 100g of protein yesterday!

Will get in a longer walk today. Weather has been nice but it's supposed to rain tomorrow. Got to get it in while I can!

Menu

A chomp early, plus a strawberry Oikos triple zero

Turkey, bits of each of the vegetables and probably stuffing to taste. A couple of bites of the maple pears/cranberries. Probably a biscuit. No mashed taters or green beans this year. Sorry, folks

Protein chips or cold cuts because protein

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

It is funny, when we bought our house 16 years ago it had (still has) 2 ovens. I wasn't much of a cook and thought "well that is a waste of space". Ironically I now wonder how people can exist with only one oven! I am especially grateful during holiday meal cooking to have 2 ovens. Also great when making more than one pizza!

Ooh, that sounds great for someone who loves to cook! Countertop toaster ovens help to carry the load here!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I wish I would have done more food prep yesterday. I did make the sweet potato casserole but haven't baked it yet - so the filling and the streusel topping are in two separate containers in my fridge. That one should be easy, though - I'll just assemble it and toss it in the oven. Then I need to make the stuffing, the gravy, brine the turkey breast, and then put the turkey in the oven (will do that at my mom's later this afternoon). I guess that's not too bad - but still, I wish I'd done more of it yesterday. I'll be busy for awhile. My niece said she wanted to make mac & cheese, because she heard it was a common Thanksgiving side dish. I'd never heard of that, so I looked it up. It's evidently common in the south - although I lived in the south for 10 years and had never heard of that. Maybe it's more common in the "deep south"?? (I lived in NC). Oh well, it's fine - and everyone likes it, so...

QOTD: I'm thankful I'm retired, that we don't have any money worries, and I'm also thankful for you guys here at OH

B: yogurt

MS: protein shake

L: maybe chicken breast strips with BBQ sauce (?)

AS: I'll be at my mother's by then. Wine probably. I don't know what as far as snacks, though. Maybe I should take something with me so I don't blow it even before dinner. Maybe some fruit - or I could pop some plain popcorn (??)

D: turkey and gravy, a couple forkfuls of everything else (stuffing, mac & cheese, sweet potato casserole, Brussels sprouts casserole) and a piece of pumpkin pie with whipped cream

ex: maybe a cardio video this morning while waiting for things to come out of the oven

have a great day, everyone!

I think Mac and cheese from scratch is a very common side - I've lived in the west, Midwest, south and Miami and it's definitely been on the table many times. It's not my thing so far be never made it for a side dish though.

I don't eat it anymore because of the fat and simple carbs, but I do like it. And we opted not to do mashed potatoes this year, so it can serve as our starch (well, of course there are other starches - stuffing and sweet potatoes. Those I'll eat, though!)

Home made max n cheese can be a bit labor intensive and expensive! But oh so good!
