Good Morning Queen JB and Menuers,
I missed yinz yesterday. I had to take Ron to a doctor's appointment to see what they want to do with his knee after his MRI and they are saying it is the beginnings of arthritis and as long as it does not have a bunch of water that needs drained or a lot of pain, he can just continue with OTC meds till it gets worse. Way better than hearing he needed another surgery.
I concur with the rest of you. Mashed Potatoes rock. I am trying stuffing from scratch this year, so fingers crossed on that. Does anyone else use Mushrooms in there stuffing? Mom always did but I do not see them in any other recipe. I also have Ron cooking an extra turkey breast in our new Air Fryer combo thingy that has a rotisserie setting. My brown butter cheesecake looks amazing. I am going to taste it even though my body needs to stop eating crap and snacks. I'll figure it out next week.
QOTD: I would say me. But I have calmed down in my older age and Now I try to live by the teachings in the bible I refrain but when I was young and stupid, I had cleared a few holiday tables in my day. Guess not the proudest moments.
Accountability: I had some crazy breakfast Sandwich at Panera that looked health on paper, but I think the sprouted bagel was way too many carbs.

actually, yes, I HAVE seen a couple of stuffing recipes with mushrooms in it. I think pretty much anything goes when it comes to stuffing - mushrooms, sausage, nuts, dried fruit, diced apples - and of course, herbs. I may throw some mushrooms in mine, too. I bought a pack for the gravy, but I don't think I'll need the whole pack. Maybe I'll dump half of it in the stuffing...
Love the meme. I am dreaming about my Thanksgiving meal since I have been on the No Excuse November eating plan. I am so ready for some bread stuffing and taters with gravy. In the past before surgery the turkey was just there because you had to have some. Starting last year after surgery I now start with the protein then I can have what I want after. How does everyone else approach the meal?
today I am "working" from home. I am caught up in the office so most likely I will check and respond to emails. So that will be the extent of my work. I have my annual PCP Appt this morning. Mostly to get refills on prescriptions. Then I will go to yoga. Minimal straightening up and wiping down the kitchen. Probably a little food prep to make tomorrow easier.
QOTD: if with the extended family maybe my BIL if he has been drinking. Otherwise everyone is pretty chill. If my fIL was alive he can get grumpy with glowering at the end of the table.
Accountability: excellent
meals are the same ole same!
E: 60 min yoga

The last of the human freedoms, to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances. (Frankl, 1946)
my first year or two out I focused on the turkey (with a little gravy). Then I had a tablespoon or two of the green bean casserole, the sweet potatoes, and the stuffing. I brought a thing of pumpkin yogurt with me to eat while the rest were eating their pumpkin pie. Once I hit maintenance, my main goal has been not to make a pig of myself. I just try to eat normal-people-sized portions (maybe a little smaller than that, actually....but not microscopic portions like I did early out..)
I'm pretty similar to Trish. I dumped on desserts two years in a row, so I am more careful about sugar than calories on holidays. In general, I don't cook very much/well, so the likelihood that I will get into bad habits of eating fancy casseroles on a regular basis is pretty much zero.
On the other hand, they sell candy at every cash register in the country.

At first it was all Turkey. Now, I just have a little of my favorite things and move on. I look forward to the turkey sandwich the next day SO MUCH and again I move on - It's once a year.
