What's on your Wednesday Menu?
on 11/23/22 3:06 am
Ok, we have a resounding consensus that we are all about the mashed potatoes tomorrow, so this meme seemed apt :)
Yesterday morning when I posted I forgot that I had a cookie pick up scheduled at my mom's house yesterday evening. The order was from an old old old friend who I have lost touch with and reacquainted with over and over over the years. She lives in GA, but was home for the holiday and it was great to catch up :)
Today should be super chill. I can't make cookies because I had to move everything out of the dining room to prep for tomorrow, and the house is basically clean, so I might just park myself in front of the Hallmark channel and have a day of pure chill!
QOTD: Who is the person in your family who is most likely to say or do something inappropriate at a family gathering? I am going with Grim's older sister. She lives in CA so we don't see her often, but when she comes she shrieks and yells and makes multiple scenes. Her brothers have learned to completely tune her out but I am not there yet. Last time she was here for Thanksgiving my mom came into the kitchen and asked what she could do to help and she snapped, "IN MY FAMILY PEOPLE JUST HELP WITHOUT ASKING!!!!". My mom just tiptoed out backwards, lol...
I made it to the grocery store! TJ's was so crowded and crazy that I couldn't really browse and get my exact list, but I have food!
B: Eggs
L: Chili
D: Mini Chicken Tacos

I don't handle scenes well at all and the thought of that happening would make me want to stay home. Fortunately, everyone in our family is past that part of their life and holidays are peaceful. I am sure Prozac plays a big part in that for some of them.
I might have had a nasty retort for the rude sister. We watch the National Dog Show during our family get together, so there are no longer emotional responses to football calls during the meal.

Haha, glad your family can get along when there are dogs instead of football--that's so funny!

Happy Wednesday!! Good job on the grocery store and getting some food!
Today will be all our prep and making the pies and the family dinner out. Although yesterday I made a big boo-boo -- we'd been talking about dinner at the pub my niece cooks at after school...so before I took the two gouges to a movie, I sent a text to my nephew and niece-in-law about dinner and we agreed on a time....but apparently I forgot to put "tomorrow" in there....so the two of them were at the pub, looking for the family....my sister was running errands and the rest of us were at the movie. Whoops! Fortunately, I have lots of good will built up so they were not upset but I felt terrible...and also laughed hilariously.
I'll get some boxing in this morning before I check out of the airbnb and head to my sisters; I'll stay there tonight and Thursday.
QOTD - my mother which is the least of the reasons we don't invite her to Thanksgiving. Since she won't be there it will probably be my teenage niece, probably inadvertently.
menu today
coffee plus half and half
yogurt
white chicken chili
cheese stick
the restaurant it known for their pork tenderloin, which is a thing in this part of the world. I prefer my pork in bacon or ham form but my sister and I are going to split one...when it's the delicacy, you have to try it.
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!

I am pretty sure I was the teenage niece who inadvertently made a scene at some point in my life, lol.
Have a great dinner! My mom made me an amazing pork tenderloin last night for dinner. She made this really amazingly complicated marinade that was some sort of asian-chili yumminess.

Good morning QJB and menuers,
Woo! Grocery store success. Congratulations. Having food is a good thing.
I'm technically off today, so yay. Will be checking in on work since there's still a lot to do. Though it's 7am, everyone here is up. There's something going on in the kitchen with a turkey and brine. I've already done the longer walk with the dogs in the chilly morning air. Thinking about the possibility of stopping by a Ross or something today to check for pants. My mom called in for to work and wants to go to Costco...that should be fun. Might see about a flat of Fairlife shakes after trying one on the road trip.
Made a second Publix run yesterday morning. I found a blue flared mug that says "my cup of tea" that just had to come home with me. Spent a lot of time on the international aisle combing through tahini, jammy dodgers, rye bread, harissa and other fun things. I've got everything I need to make a few small batch recipes tomorrow. Still on for carrots, acorn squash, pears with cranberries, and herby biscuits. I don't think mashed potatoes are on our list this year. They're focused on few leftovers.
QOTD- Would be my sister's last bf who had alcohol problems and would say the most inappropriate things. Glad he's out of the picture.
Accountability - part of a small bag of crunchy plantain chips.
Exercise - Couple more short walks on top of the 2.5ish miles this morning. Maybe another mile or so.
Menu
Protein bar, probably some cold cuts and the oikos triple zero...other stuff is as comes. Cheers!

Hopefully! Definitely some carbs there but I'll only try a bit. Going for this as a base recipe: https://www.womansday.com/food-recipes/food-drinks/a29665864 /roasted-maple-pears-with-cranberries-and-thyme/

Good morning everybody!
I know the kids are home because internet isn't working and the comfortable chair with the computer has been swapped out. So a phone post this morning.
Today is a work day until 3:00 officially. In reality, I have two things that I need to do this afternoon and then I will put my computer away because it's interfering with the table setting.
My youngest was talking about going out for breakfast. If he is up by 8:30, I will join him. Other than that, I am going to the gym this morning and maybe to GFS to get my Bai waters.
We may get King Crab for my older son. We are definitely getting sushi for the other kids. Happy Hour is tentatively canceled this evening, but we will still be festive.
QOTD: Nobody really. There are only 7 of us. The kids, for the most part, are hermetically sealed in their rooms. The grandparents go down for naps every 90 minutes.
breakfast: omelette if youngest wakes up
lunch: sandwich
dinner: sushi
Have a great day, all!
