Mornin' All!
Phentermine is working great! I've been eating/drinking about 1000 calories a day and I'm never hungry. I feel like I did the first few months post-surgery. Too bad I can't stay on this forever, but I can't. It's a controlled substance, so I'll probably only be on it for a couple of months. But maybe if I can drop 10 lbs or so in that time period, it'll motivate me to keep going - or maintain (I should be OK at 10 lbs less than I am now...). I do NOT want to get back up to where I've been the last month or so. Not happy here at all (although I actually feel great now - but I don't want to step on the scale because I'm afraid i'll only be down a few ounces rather than the mega-pounds I'm imagining...because that's the way it goes when you're not all that overweight...)
I'm busy all day tomorrow and I'll be cooking on Wednesday, so today is the day to get caught up with things. I finished my (online) 1960s history course last night. I LOVED that course and am going to really miss it! I also watched a movie for my documentary film discussion group (Obit) - I saw it when it was released in 2016. but that was awhile ago so I decided I'd better watch it again. Loved it. It's about the obituary department at the New York Times. Sounds morbid, but it's not at all. Very engaging film.
QOTD: well, I just told you about Obit. It's available on Kanopy if your public (or university) library subscribes to that. Otherwise, it's on Amazon Prime and Youtube Prime if you subscribe - and on a couple other streaming services (Apple, Google Play, and Vudu) for $2.99/$3.99. And your public library may have copies of the DVD. Highly recommended. The other film I saw recently (this one at a theater) is Till (about Emmett Till). Also highly recommended.
it's sort of hard planning a menu at the moment because the goal these first few days of Phentermine is to do mainly protein shakes (and I originally planned to do JUST those the first two days, then go up to about 1000-ish kcal/day), but I ended up jumping right into the latter, which I'm OK with. I'll probably have 2-4 protein shakes today, plus maybe a thing or two of Greek yogurt, and maybe a cup of the African peanut soup (with chicken) that I made yesterday (this - for dinner). Plus I just had my usual morning coffee (two mugs of it with half & half). I have to take my mother to the grocery store later this morning. If I get home in time for a 1:00 Aqua Zumba class on the other side of town, I'll go to that. Otherwise, I'll probably take a walk - or do a walking or cardio dance video - for exercise.
have a great day, everyone!
Trish - I saw your post over the weekend also. It sounds like you are off to a great start. It's probably good to stay off the scale for a week if you are meeting your calorie goals.

Are you having any side effects from the med? Anything really but specifically energy wise - speed like or crashing?

I start feeling really buzzed about an hour after I take the pill (which I take around 7-8 a.m.). Lasts about two hours. That's really the most obvious side effect. Sometimes I can tell in the afternoon that I've taken something - but it's a subtle feeling.
an increase in blood pressure is supposedly a common side effect, but mine is so low to begin with that it really didn't concern my PCP or my clinic. They'll be monitoring it, though. I have a home BP machine, so I'll monitor it as well - although I don't think this'll be a huge problem for me (HBP, that is...)
Good Morning Queen JB and Meneurs,
QJB Killing it for the Win. Congratulations.
I am sitting in a Queue waiting for a nutrition appointment with the Bariatric center. Hoping to get some tips and trick to stop the snacking at night, and maybe motivate me to move a bit more. My fear is he's going to say get rid of the coffee creamer. I do not know if I can do it. Weekend was nice like I said bunch of church goings on. For the men's breakfast on Saturday, they took my signature dish off this time because they had leftover Sauage from another event. I make a kick ass Sausage Gravy and biscuits, but it was nixed. I heard a little grumbling from the crowd. It wasn't my decision. LOL.
This week consist of prepping for Thanksgiving. Ron and I will do the whole meal ourselves. My brother never minds helping but he is one who like to pump it up and he over seasons crap too much. I want a nice buttery creamy mashed potato. No need for garlic or cheese. They are lovely with just butter cream and salt. I will be making sure the meal is done to my liking. My mom likes the green bean casserole with the dried onions however I am not a fan. I do Arkansas green beans with soy and brown sugar. I am sorry I disappoint her on these, but I am not a fan of the others.
