What's on your Saturday menu?

Good Saturday mornin everyone.

I've got a lot planned for today. We're going to visit my aunt and probably help her set up her Christmas tree. Since she moved in with her daughter it's not been good for her. Which we knew it'd be. My cousin is a control freak among other things. She also acts like she's the only one who lost someone when my uncle died. It's just a weird situation. I see it settling down in a year. It's the old saying...you can't go home again.

I also have to pick up a prescription and we might stop at a market Walmart for a few things.

QOTD: What animal or creature...real or fictional...do you wish you could have as a pet?

Dragon here...allllll the way dragon!

B: JUST egg bowl and coffee

L: hamburger stew(which turned out so good!)

D: ???

S: stollen and ???

Good morning and happy Saturday. As planned, I stopped at the halfway point so I have a quick 5 hours drive in front of me. I finished an interesting audio book on the way, my oldest neohew had recommended I'm glad my mom died by Jennette McCurdy who was a Nickelodeon star. I've never watched Nickelodeon but was intrigued by the recommendation. It made me feel 1000x better about my childhood, let me tell you. It was a fascinating story. Next up, probably on the way home is Fstty Fatty Boom Boom by Radia Chaoudry.

qotd - our dragons can be friends, Mel! Or I'd be really happy with a gargoyle too - there is a baby one in the latest iteration of Sandman on Netflix that I would happily make a home for.

menu today

coffee plus half and half

yogurt from the hotel breakfast bar

protein bar

the dinner I have to be there for will be delicious so I'll some if all of this - cranberry jalapeño poppers, bacon panzanella salad, cornish game hen, sweet potato gnocchi and molasses carrots, and lemon-blueberry trifle. Should be delicious!!

I will do a quick stretching series before I get on the road (and probably when I get to the destination too) but otherwise, true rest day here!

have a great Saturday everyone!

Just the title of that book makes me wince. Can only imagine the narrative.

Safe travels, and enjoy that delicious dinner!

Did you read or listen? I listened and I really think I would not have come away the same if I had read. Her tone was everything about all the things. It threw me at first - like why aren't you more emotional or upset or mad - but as it went on I totally got it. Very different from my issues - quite the opposite actually. My CEN (childhood emotional neglect) was no joke but I too felt better about my childhood.

Your menu sound so good! Have a great trip!

I listened to it, my nephew read it. I definitely agree, for me, her delivery was key!

Your dinner sounds wonderful.

I read the McCurdy book. Boy did she develop some eating disorders. She worshipped her mother without realizing the relationship was dysfunctional.

I just finished an audio book called The Nightingale by Kristen Hannah that was really good. Set during WWII and from a French woman's perspective and the struggle to survive. They were not Jewish so it is also a perspective from their point of view. Really interesting the struggle to survive.

have a great trip.

I am hit and miss with her books. I loved the four winds, read it in a single day, hated the great alone and didn't fini**** I have The Nightengale on my list but it moved down after the great alone.

Good morning Mel and weekend menuers,

Sounds like a busy day! Hope it all works out.

QOTD- I've always wanted a phoenix. Had one on my high school class ring from years ago. :)

This morning I'll go into town for dog nails and then pack up the car. Also elliptical. It's a bonus that the room with exercise equipment is my sacrificial room since it doesn't heat or cool. It means I'm motivated to get moving during the winter.

I spent yesterday evening cleaning and doing most of the packing for being away another week. Why does one person with two dogs need so much stuff? :) I blame the cpap and taking along my dog's bed and crate. Plan to hit the road late this afternoon to maximize lower evening traffic, though increased probabilityof wildlife. I'll probably have to stop for a nap since, you know, I'm not 20 anymore. Should be in Georgia sometime tomorrow morning for the week.

If anyone knows of a yoga series or channel that works well with low blood pressure (downward dog or any head-down position is...bad), would love to hear about it. Feeling less flexible these days, and while I've tried yoga a few times, nothing sticks.

Today is an attempt to finish last week's prepped food before leaving.

Menu

Breakfast- holiday tea (yay!!), cottage cheese, seaweed, yogurt

Lunch - Crustless chicken pot pie x2

Dinner - Low carb chicken enchilada casserole

In between- The rest of the leftover jamaican beef patty filling I forgot about along with the rest of the riced cauliflower and Rotel from the casserole I forgot about :)

Aim is to be done with all food and supplements by 4pm. Hit the road not too long after that! Cheers, everyone!

Consider Pilates vs yoga. No inversions in Pilates. Which of the holiday tea brands/flavors?

Oh hey...somehow I never thought about pilates. Will look into that, thanks!

Since I'm allowed one caffeine drink per day, I'm cracking open my most favorite holiday tea, which is Tea of Good Tidings from the Republic of Tea. I buy it loose-leaf by the pound and to me, it tastes better with age because of the mix. Smells divine and it's just a herald of the winter season. Discovered it at World Market a bunch of years back. They only sell it during the holidays, so I stock up every couple of years.
