Glad your birthday dinner went well, and congrats. I'm in the camp that celebrating every year you've achieved is a good practice. :)
Glad the dog stayed on the other side of the gate...police dogs are rightly terrifying.

Oh man, it was perfect Al dente and they make the pasta daily. I had a hard time sleeping at two pieces and it was very rich.

What club do you go to? You have written about it a couple of times. Is it like the Eagles or similar?
Whatever happened with your new friend? I haven't seen her mentioned lately.
Police dogs are so pretty but it would be scary to have one come after you.

I go to the West Side Alano Club, which is four blocks from my apartment. There are English and Polish Alcoholics Anonymous meetings held multiple times/day at the club. I have gotten pretty involved in the club the last few years and spend time there multiple times a week. I am currently treasurer and on the board. I play cards there with retired cops, robbers, tradesmen, students, doctors, gov't workers, etc. Everyone is welcome and I've become friends with a ton of people from all walks of life that I would never get to spend time with otherwise. There are occasional social events. It has become a very positive, spiritual part of my life.
My new friendship with Emily has cooled off over the last few weeks. It was intense and exciting for September and October. At the beginning of this month, she stopped being as open with me and started to withdraw into isolating. She had multiple personal issues come up simultaneously. I last saw her a couple weeks ago but continued to talk to her almost daily for the next week. I haven't heard from Emily in a week, her phone is now shut off, she took a leave from her job, and I am concerned about her. I want to respect her space and process while letting her know I'm here for her. I am also conscious of the fact that I've known her a very limited amount of time.
