What's on your Monday Menu?

Morning morning, my friends. What's new? I wish I had something exciting to report, but my weekend was the usual boring stuff... I made good progress on my school work and I got a lot of cookie stuff done. More of the same today. For some reason next week I have two papers due on Thanksgiving--they did not change the due date! So in an ideal world I will do them both ahead of time this week so that I can contribute to cooking and cleaning next week!

QOTD: Do you have plants in the house? We currently just have one Christmas cactus that belonged to Grim's mom, and it is just starting to bloom. I go through phases of having a lot more--especially when I have the aerograden going, but nothing at the moment.

I did nothing in terms of shopping, meal prep, or planning this weekend, so I feel like I have a lot of ingredients but nothing made. My menu is just a guess at the moment.

B: Egg & Coffee

S: Babybel

L: Tuna melt on low carb tortilla

D: Chicken of some sort...?

Good mornin JB and everyone!

I got an automated call last night that my doctor had sent in a prescription for me except it didn't say what it is or what it's for. I will hopefully get a call from a human being explaining what it is.

We've got most of the Christmas stuff up. Just a few odds and ends left. If it were up to my bah humbug self none of this would be to the extent, if any at all, that my mom does. She has a lot of miniature scenes with various scales sizes. I'll have to get a picture for Friday. When I was 12 or so my grandma held me by my shirt collar and yelled and kind of hit me(not really hard) because we hadn't got my mom anything for Christmas. Mind you I was 12 and my brother 15. Neither of use could obviously drive and she sure as hell didn't offer to take us. Ever since then Christmas just isn't my thing for the major part of it. I worry about giving the right gifts or enough gifts. Ahhh childhood trauma...warm and fuzzy.

I have an appointment today and need to run to the dollar tree and post office.

QOTD: my very own little krampus (Percy) doesn't allow us to have any...not even the fake stuff.

B: JUST egg cup and coffee

L: ham and navy beans

D: prob beans too

S: ????

Maybe you can focus on the happy parts of forming new memories with your kidlets! I know that once I focused on making sure they didn't end up with the same trauma it became more fun for me. I'm sure we've given them other traumas, lol, but at least they are different! I don't think it will ever be the "traditional" holiday experience but it works and it's our version of traditional!

It's one of those things I don't focus on a lot. There are just a few times every once in a while that it bugs me. I do love getting things for people that mean something. I would much rather get that receive so I am having fun with my nieces and nephew. Kids are the funnest part!

thanks!

My Dad was not a Fan of the commercialism of Christmas. Yes, we got gifts, but he made it all about the food. He was always so grumpy. I do miss him dearly but never at the Holiday. He always took the fun out of it. I enjoy it way more now than I did growing up. Hope your Niece and Nephew find the spirit of Christmas through you and your mom.

For some reason my FIL would be grumpy at holidays also. He could take the joy out of the holiday so I just tried to stay away from him and gravitated toward happier people at a gathering.

My husband was a grinch too. He loved the food and drinks but never understood the presents part. There were 13 kids in my family and we all bought for each other so there were more than 200 packages piled up in the living room and dining room on Christmas Eve. His family did very little with gifts but went all out on the food. He was born on December 27. I told him he spoiled Christmas for his mother that year and tried to spoil it for everyone else for the rest of his life.
