Thanks for your feedback! You had mentioned the protein frosty once when I was just post op. I did try something similar but it was too much for my stomach at the time. Might be worth retracing!

And agree. Might need to wait longer before trying again in some cases. I'm losing the battle with eggs, which were a go-to before surgery. And a lot of processed meat like deli meat or hot dogs. I do keep trying.:)

a lot of people have issues with eggs the first few months after surgery - and for most, it's temporary.

Took me a year to tolerate eggs. I could do sunny side up but not scrambled. You may want to try a different cooking method that is what helped me get them down.

I love world market. When I prepare my kids care packages that's the first stop, because they always have unusual things.

I mean. I don't blame you. I goggled at it, took a picture, and left it for the bacon-centric folks. :)

Doing a follow up post after my in bed moment this morning. I was feeling a little frustrated earlier after ruminating on the conversations with the clinic folks and the struggles to choke down protein sources my body doesn't seem to want (yay for keeping them down, though!).

So yep, I've been on the struggle bus. It's okay - that happens, and much as I like to stay positive, I don't want to gloss over the challenges. Lately, the bus been stopping by a bit too often. So what am I doing to indicate it's time to get off? Good question.

Instead of using this morning to exercise (I will after work), I used the time to move the needle on order. Since getting home Sunday night I hadn't made much headway in that department, and I'm always in a better space mentally when everything is tidy. So I've decluttered more. Took the last few things from the trip out of the car - that also needs to be washed and vacuumed this weekend. Put on laundry, folded the laundry I have a tendency to leave in the dryer. Swept the porch. Cleaned up in the kitchen and bathroom, watered the indoor and potted plants...and on and on. It's amazing how much you can get done in an hour. And now those are things that don't have to be done this weekend, and I feel better for where I am.

It helps that now I'm only 4 pounds over my trip weight, though it feels otherwise. I also tossed the rest of the now malfitting underclothes. Sitting down to a small plate of cube steak I don't feel like eating and a nice cup of tea to look forward to 30 minutes later. Thanks for bearing with me folks. :)

I find fat free sauces made using real butter solids ( popcorn seasoning findable in any grocery store) and fat free half n half and ( very often) ready made fat free envelope grocery store sauce mixes are a great way to get down and enjoy relatively hard lean proteins like chicken breast or pork loin.

Making a ten minute sauce is also a tasty way to include fresh vegetables in my meals.

Whenever im tempted by real as opposed to fat free cheese which i eat tons of both the shdredded and the slices ..i think HALF of that quantity is straight-up BUTTERFAT which will be grabbed up by my painstakingly emptied fat cells LIKE THAT and I will have exactly that much more fat on my stomach in the morning .

Then I ask myself - is the delicious taste worth it ? Ninety nine times out of a hundred the answer is no .. and if I cant resist something fatty at least I try to have it in the morning so I ( hopefully) burn it off.

I, like your nutritionist dont believe in so called healthy fats or rather i know i get plenty eating out occasionally.

If i want to reduce fat cravings supplementing evening primrose oil, flaxseed oil capsules or CLA capsules really has been demonstrated to help people lose weight and stop craving fats .

i would say the number one reason for struggles post bariatric surgery is the justification for eating fat.

Yes calorie wise it doesnt seem to make much difference in the beginning with the three bite restriction and initial speeded up metabolism.

Later making these same choices leads to yo yoing weight and regain struggles from what I've seen on here over twelve years .

Thanks for your feedback.

I do find the struggle (for me) is more the balance of salt, sugar, and fats in most foods like sauces. I'm not a fan of salt or sugar, including sweeteners, so maintaining flavor can be a challenge since that means food scientists add fat to make up for it. Totally up for homemade sauces and I've been doing it often. There's a great keto ****tail sauce recipe with fresh horseradish that's just divine. And sharp. I use a lot of ginger, chili paste, etc. Curry and Indian-inspired spices. I have a whole lazy Susan full of herbs and spices. I adore vegetables of all sorts, even just steamed.

It's more the intolerance of the protein source itself leading to the need for sauces in the first place. I prefer a mostly vegetarian diet, plus dairy and some seafood. No matter how you flavor beef, it's still beef in all its forms. :) I'm still recovering from the last time I made tofu.

Part of the journey, and I love hearing about how different they can all be. Cheers!
