Happy Friday --or Monday, for me. Time to jump in to week 2 of this semester.
Pic of a beautiful walk along the ocean yesterday.
QOTD: I'm so impressed by your routine. Generally Grim and I will be watching tv and at some random point in the evening, one of us will say, "I'm calling it" and we head to wash up and go to bed.
B: coffee
L: tuna melt on low carb tortilla
D: insides of fish taco

Good morning Jen and menuers,
Yay Friday! It's a work from home day of meetings and volunteering for me.
QOTD - Really just the routine of kitchen stuff, washing/treating my face, brushing teeth, and taking the dogs out. Except for yesterday when I fell asleep on the couch. It's hard to maintain longer routines since I'm so sleepy in the evenings.
Lots to do this weekend. My car is overdue for service thanks to road tripping, so my best guess is that's half of Saturday at the dealership. Maybe take my laptop and work on some things. More likely some Kindle time. I've also got a bit of planting and yard pickup to do. Seems any time it rains, branches of size come down. We're due for storms today, so fun. Also need to get my menu game together for next week, so cooking and shopping.
I spent some time yesterday on the phone with the nutritionist. Well. One of them. It feels like the food intolerances are growing. I keep trying different foods and just suffer through eating them. Or eat some but not what I planned. She basically told me to stick it out but did say I can have edamame. They still aren't in agreement on black beans or healthy fats. Recalibration is needed since the convenience protein foods might be great for grab and go but are all still super processed. Her best suggestion is to try different types of sauces and such to vary flavors. She doesn't want me drinking my protein, either. Keep on keeping on. I'll talk to my therapist about it, too. The menu struggles are real!
Exercise - In a minute
Menu
Lots of dairy
More cube steak
Shrimp or scallops
Maybe a burger patty with toppings. Got a cast iron skillet to experiment with
So my team last year did an ornament exchange. I don't celebrate holidays or decorate, so was pretty unprepared. While perusing World Market last week, I found the perfect ornament to contribute. I leave you with this on a fabulous Friday. Cheers.

They have a lot of funny and neat ornaments and then sometimes they have ones that really make you scratch your head

Cute ornament! Have you tried going dairy free? A number of people have mentioned becoming lactose intolerant post op. I am very happy I was not one of them. Also, I don't know if any of use would encourage the "grin and bear it" approach to food that is making you uncomfortable - you are still early out and stepping back a phase of eating might be more beneficial.

I have not! The dairy has so far been a part of my "fall back" approach to the diet. Not sure what I could use for tolerable protein sources to test that out but probably worth a try. Maybe it's seafood week! I would be pretty sad to lose cheese, but it could happen!
I did ask yesterday about taking a step back on the diet. Even doing a couple of days of just protein shakes again. She heavily advised against it and said to eat my protein. That's where the "stick it out" talk came in. Because there's so much more protein in the same amount of chicken versus black beans and if you just change up the flavors, it will get better. :) On one hand, I want to be compliant and listen to my clinic. On the other hand...they don't seem incredibly responsive to feedback based on individual experience.
