I did like Verity, but had a hard time getting past some of her journal entries - they were disturbing.

I agree, also the sex entries began to get tiring after a while. At the end of the book, I was ready for it to end but it seemed to go on and on.

The last of the human freedoms, to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances. (Frankl, 1946)
Good morning from rainy San Diego. Yay for rain, we really need it. And I love sitting here with coffee and hearing/seeing it. Today is Rog's birthday. He loved his gift from me. (Jim, wine...of course it's wine). We have nothing planned all day. Discussed a bike ride, but not unless the weather dries up.
I was almost spot on yesterday for food and calories. I did eat 1/6 of one of the cookies. It's a sweet corn bread cookie. It was great but the frosting on top is too much. They should leave it off. I got in about 75 minutes of exercise yesterday as well, and that doesn't include un-decorating from Halloween, putting all the outside pillows away for the "storm" and putting all the patio furniture back where it belongs after the Halloween dinner. A very productive day for me.
QoTD: I have been reading like crazy and loving, or love/hating the books. I have finished Search, Deep Dark Blue, Do not become Alarmed and Beach house for rent in the last week or two. Amy and Sheila, consider Do not become alarmed as an audio because it was eerie and spooky like that last Stephen King novel we all loved. Beach house was a total pool read and I needed that after Deep Dark Blue. On TV, I am into Seal Team and the newest season of the original NCIS. Love me some Gibbs. Also bummed about Country Fire. I don't think it's got the depth of story to make it. And I do love GBBS and all things cooking shows. Beat Bobby Flay has been my daily company while I cook dinner and Roger does neighborhood dog playing hour out front.
Menu today
B: last of the salisbury steaks and cottage cheese.
L: leftover piece of pork chop and more of the great salad I made on Monday
D: Ribeye for Rog. He's says he'll smoke it this afternoon. Chicken thigh for me. He's picked mashed potatoes and corn on the cob for sides.
Peace Everybody.

We are going to give it a season to see if it gets better. I think I already said this but Only the Brave is a better version of the same story.
Curious about the identity of the Birthday Wine, message me if you get a minute.

G'morning all!
I think I am finally over the jet-lag, hence the late post. Yesterday was glorious; in control of my food and back to working out with weights. It was a good start to a no excuse month.
In reading all of your posts I am adding left and right to my podcasts, shows to watch, and books to read...so thanks for all the suggestions.
I have a mini confession to make that if it gets back to DH I will deny it. We were watching house of dragon before I left, and he promised me he wouldn'****ch it without me. It just so happened that my mom also watches house of dragon and I "happened" to watch 2-3 episodes with her. My excuse is that I watched it in Italian so I didn't actually watch them. It was funny because last night we watched an episode I had already seen in Italy and I had to act surprised at some of the scenes.
QOTD: recently finished listening to Humankind by Rutger Bergman (highly recommend). Reading On Hallowed Ground about the history of Arlington cemetery. I had to stop several times because couldn't stop crying. The way they chose the unknown soldier for WWI was just so heartbreaking and tender. If you guys are in the mood for some real history I highly recommend it. Partlypolyanna rec'd this book to me and I always trust her recs. We need to finish House of Dragon, and I wanna watch "the Watcher" and "inside man", which I do during my weight workout days.
My meals yesterday:
- Coffee
- Mex cauli rice + ground turkey
- Jello, unexpected cheddar spread w/ soy crackers
- TJ kebabs with fage yogurt
- E: cardio + weight
Happy hump day!

In Italy - did you watch House of the Dragon with Italian voice-over or with Italian subtitles? I won't tell the hubs!
