Morning everyone! Phew, I have had a bunch of really stressful days. Friday I totally screwed up a finals paper and didn't realize until the end of writing it that I really misunderstood the assignment. A whole day wasted and no way to salvage anything, so back to square one. I also had big a wedding order and taught a cookie decorating class this weekend (which was awesome!) so I was too busy and stressed to even think about fixing it. Last night I finally collapsed with a fever and a sore throat... Thankfully (I guess?) I only have 2 tiny orders this week so I can focus 100% on school. Everything is due on Thursday, so I do have some time, I just usually get things turned in by Tuesday so that I can have my fake W & Th weekends, but I don't think that's going to happen this week. Oh well!

QOTD: If you had to move to a huge city for a year (money is not a factor), which one would you pick? I am completely torn between NYC and Paris. But I love New York and I would love to spend a lovely year exploring everything there! Since money doesn't factor in, I would live in SOHO and go to museums, concerts, and shop every day.

Food today is a little up in the air because I haven't been grocery shopping yet. I will get an Instacart order this morning. Here is my best guess:

B: Costco Egg Bites

L: Parm Chicken

S: Miracle Muffin

D: Steak Salad

Good morning QJB and menuers,

JB, I'm sorry. Sounds like you've had a horrible few days. I hope you're able to find some down time to rest with the fever and such.

QOTD- Maybe Sydney? I an NOT a city person and that would be a horrible year for me.

Accountability-Too much bacon yesterday. Still under calories and yadda yadda. Let's just say I'll get to see how my post-surgery guts handle more than a few grams of fat.

Exercise-Yep. Yesterday and today. My body says after work.

Menu

Yogurt

Meatloaf

Chowder

Collagen and fiber

Cheers everyone. Tired morning.

Ooh Sydney is a good pick. I really love the country ... but only to visit. I need more fun stuff to do!

I had too much bacon last weekend. I think it was actually dehydration (I'm so terrible about drinking anything besides coffee) and the extra salt put me over the edge! I hope you manage it okay.

Oh ouch, that doesn't sound like fun! Hope it wasn't too bad.

I seem to be doing mostly okay so far! My stomach has done a good job in tolerating sugar alcohol, small levels of healthy fats, and bacon, apparently. Some stuff I really want to keep to a minimum in my diet because...slippery slope. I'd live on tea if I got back the caffinated version. Not sure when that happens. :)

Buongiorno!

Quick checkin from the homeland. Arrived in Pisa on Sat right around the time that my niece was born. Here are a couple of pictures of the little one right after birth. You could see she's very cheeky, she was about 8.6 lbs at birth.

The mom and the baby are still at the hospital due to C-section, and nobody is allowed in the hospital following covid protocols. Only the father is allowed to visit once a day for one hour, so we are all just hanging around until they come home.

Yesterday we visited an antique market in Lucca; tons of neat stuff from the 1500s all the way to 1970s. For a treat I had a very yummy gelato, I hadn't had a real gelato in a long time. I opted for mixed berries in a very small Junior cup. Their cups are much smaller than what we are used in the US. In fact, I noticed most people were using the very small cups, only few tourists were having the bigger cups of gelato. It was an adequate size and it hit the spot.

When packing my suitcase there were so many presents for the little one that I didn't have much room for workout clothes in my bags. So this morning I borrowed a couple of leggings and tshirt from my mom (I looked ridiculous in her clothes) and went for my 5 miles Wog. In comparison to home and the uphills this walk on flat was, as they say, a walk in the park. I was starting to feel antsy not planning on working out for 2 weeks so this walk kinda calmed me down. I have also brought bands with me so I can do some modified workouts on weight days.

My meals for the foreseeable future are up in the air, I'm at the mercy of family planning. I can say for sure there will be a lot of cheese.

Wishing you all well, and I will check-in sporadically.

QOTD: in US Washington DC, hands down. In Europe Madrid.

Ciao!

Congrats on the little one! Glad to hear both mom and baby seem to be doing well. Hopefully they'll be released soon.

So happy you were able to take a trip home, and that you're finding ways to work through some of the less controllable pieces like food and exercise.

I do remember some amazing food among the art and history in Italy. The fresh pasta was unparalleled and my partner at the time would go back for plate after plate. Good thing he has a hollow leg. Had my first cannoli there and learned a bit about espresso and coffee culture. Good times. Have a magnificent trip!

Pasta is a no go for me, I get stuck right away. My mom thinks I lead a very sad life if I can't have pasta!

Aww, sorry to hear that! Hopefully it isn't too big of a loss. Stuck sounds...terrible. Good thing there's always gelato!

Pasta is still on my list of remotely/maybe sometime in a few months foods. Along with rice and oatmeal. :)

Sun morning, before my mom got up I already had THREE cups of coffee. I plan on keeping up this regimen.
I love how you think: coffee+cheese+gelato.
