Mornin' All!

All I have on the schedule today is a conference-thingie tonight from 5:00-8:00, but I have a ton of stuff I need to plow through. I haven't been as productive lately as I should be: books to read, movies to watch, classes to catch up on, a visit with my client, mom-related stuff, various other odds and ends. It never ends...

my gym is now offering an aqua cycling class, where they put stationary bikes in the pool (in 3-4 feet of water) and do a spin-type class. I'm going to do this today! I'm very intrigued. Evidently you have to sign up for a bike, so I'm going to go over there early to be sure I get one. This oughta be a hoot! Not sure how I'm going to record this in Fitbit and/or MFP, though. Supposedly my Fitbit is waterproof, but I've never worn it in the pool because I'm not sure how much I trust that. Plus I'm not sure the wristband I have for mine is plastic (and thus waterproof). I guess I could record it as the slowest-speed stationary bike riding (??). My guess is this is lower on cardio than regular (slow speed) stationary cycling, but higher on resistance training, since you're dealing with resistance from the water. Not that any of this matters since I don't eat back the expended calories - but I still like to record my exercise.

QOTD: cozy. Although honestly, not even that because I hate it when it gets cold and dark. My favorite part of fall is...wait for it...the food. Pumpkin spice, apples, chili, cranberries, etc. I started up with the fall food in August this year!

B: plain skyr with chia seeds and fruit compote. Coffee with half & half

MS: I should probably eat something before the aqua cycling class, since that could potentially be intense. Maybe I'll just take a protein bar with me.

L: the last chicken sausage with sauerkraut, some kind of vegetable

AS: protein muffin, apple

D: 1/2 an Impossible Burger on 1/2 a slim bun, coleslaw made with Asian-style dressing

have a great day, everyone!

UPDATE: I have the Fit*****arge 4 that came with two bands. The traditional one they always come with, plus this woven-looking thing, which is the one I've always used. I checked - it's made from recycled plastic, so even though it didn't specifically say it's waterproof, it should be! YAY!

My Fitbit was fine for showering, swimming, washing dishes, etc. Not sure I would trust it diving.

good news (and no - I'm not diving, so no issue there!). I was actually more worried about the woven band I have (it was an extra band that came with the Fitbit). It's made by a third party, but I got on the third party's Web site, and it said their products are made of recycled plastic bottles - so I should be good to go!

Good morning, everybody!

Reintroduce yourself:

So, I'm the boy. I think that tough love is only effective if delivered, in private, on a one on one basis with somebody who knows and trusts you. My menu friends are very dear to me. My keyboard sticks. There are no cats.

I was an oversized child. Looking back at pictures, I am surprised that I didn't end up much taller. As an adult I felt more fat than tall, but as I age other people are starting to shrink and I'm not. I am starting to feel tall again. I like it this time.

I gained 40 pounds between the end of High School Football and the midpoint of first semester freshman year of college. I maintained there throughout college and started gaining 15 pounds a year for the first 5 years that I worked. I lost 112 pounds when I was 27 but it didn't stick. I yo-yo'ed for the next 25 years.

Life was going good, I had career success, three great kids and a strong marriage. But I was getting really sick. By the time that I referred for surgery, I had 13 different co-morbidities. Five digit Triglyceride level's anyone? Most, but not all of these issues have resolved or gone into remission.

I chose RNY because it seemed to offer the most weight loss (my hospital doesn't offer DS). Surgery was August 28, 2018. I had a bit of a rough time recuperating. Dehydration from the liquid diet caused my kidneys to stop working correctly. I had a reaction to the Scalpomine. I ended up staying an extra night in the hospital before being discharged.

Although I didn't know it at the time, I was basically at goal after 4 months. I dribbled down to as low as 206 for a day. I think that about 222- 227 is the range that I would like to maintain at. In year three I had some regain and got up as high as 243. Last week, I was 230.2.

I am a mixed bag for compliance. Some days I do a two hour olympic lifting session in the morning and Crossfit in the afternoon. Some days I eat Pop Tarts or take my evening vitamins with Cognac.

Right now, I am in the twilight of a long career. My kids are growing up and requiring less and less parenting. We are thinking about what we want to do with the rest of our lives. I don't have all of the answers, but I'm looking forward to it.

Question:

Does anybody know how to access old threads that aren't pages 1,2,3,4,5 or 815 without paging forward one at a time? I just threw away my old Dexa's and wanted to access the information I had posted three years ago.

Tonight is our last concert of the year. We are seeing the Who at the United Center. My favorite band in high school.

QOTD:

Cozy. We used to be good Halloween decorators but have slipped over the years.

Breakfast: Bagel

Lunch: Roast Beef

Dinner: Concert food

Have a great day, all!

I didn't realize how sick you were. Happy to know you are doing so much better now. And - you are very tall to me, taller than I expected.

My keyboard stick, no cats - lol
