You know that morality police that now is in the news, and allegedly killed that girl? I had a run in with them and my only saving grace was that I had diplomatic immunity. They stopped me because I had nail polish on my nails. When they went to put nail polish remover on my nails I was afraid they would use acid to burn my fingers (they are infamous for these kind of tricks) but one of the women on the morality squad saw my face and put it in her fingers first to show me it's safe.

The bravery of those young women, of all those women, it's astounding to me! I am very glad your fingers didn't get dipped in acid.

It was a very prestigious job. My employer was the Italian government, and I was working at the Italian consulate in Iran. You just go where they send you, and every 4 years they send you to a new place. I loved it, and diplomatic immunity helped a lot.
