What's on your Thursday Menu?
on 10/6/22 2:51 am
Morning all! I woke up completely sore today. What was my amazing exercise routine, you ask? Baking six batches of cookies! I swear that rolling out cold dough is an actual workout, lol!
Today I am going to see my nephew who had brain surgery last week. He's doing well but obviously not back to work, so his girlfriend made a calendar for family to come visit. We're on for today and he asked us to take him to a museum, so that's the plan. We finally have nice weather, so I am happy to get out and enjoy the day. It's been cold, raw, and wet for a week but today should be sunny and in the 70s. Yay!
QOTD: Let's reacquaint! Tell us about you! Hi! I grew up in Mass and still live here. I struggled with weight for my whole life and had the lap-band in 2008. The band kept my weight down, but it made me extremely ill, so I had my revision to RNY in 2015. I spent my career in education--first as a teacher, then a principal, then I moved to Educational HR. I am currently not working because I am getting my MBA. I have a side-hustle as a cookie decorator, which is SO fun! I met my boyfriend here on the OH menu thread and we've been living together since 2017! He has a grown daughter who I adore, and together we have two kitties :)
Accountability: Apparently Jim and I both have trouble with spelling this week. S-T-E-A-K and P-I-Z-Z-A both have 5 letters, right?
B: Costco Egg Bites
L: ?? not sure since we'll be at the museum
D: Let's try that steak again... ;)
- High Weight before LapBand: 200 (2008)
- High Weight before RNY: 160 (2015)
- Lowest post-op weight: 110 (2016)
- Maintenance Weight: 120 (2017-2019)
- Battling Regain Weight: 135 (current)

Good morning QJB and menuers,
JB...love your fun with spelling. Glad you're seeing your nephew today.
You guys. I am officially halfway to my goal this morning! I'm counting my start weight from my referral but still. It was a bit of a surprise to update my tracker and MFP this morning and see it. I'm feeling things. And if I'm being honest, there's been some dysmorphia going on.
I got almost violently sick to my stomach at work yesterday. It was...inconvenient. Up to that point I'd only had Miralax, Unjury protein, fiber powder, my first round of pills, yogurt, and an alkaline water they were giving away. The only non regular item was alkaline water. Either way, I trucked home and even though it's supposed to be an office day, I'm staying here in case of incidents.
Also got my vitamin K yesterday, so will be adding that to my supplements.
QOTD - A bit high level but I was also that kid struggling with weight. I had the chubby cheeks from about 7. Slowly got bigger over time. Weight issues do seem to run in the family on both sides. I've lost over 100 pounds twice, and other amounts up to 50 pounds several times. My body is dead set against it, however, and the weight just creeps. I also don't have a delicate frame...we always joked that I was built to be a farm girl or something. After contracting Delta last summer, some serious brain fog set in. Unfortunately, I'd been ignoring my health for so long it was hard to diagnose issues. Since then, I've sprinted down the path to health. Officially, I'm from upstate NY, though I haven't lived there in a very long time. I still go back to visit since a lot of my family is up that way. I've worked at the same company for over 20 years and have changed jobs and locations a lot. I'm happily single, having been in relationships almost constantly for almost a quarter century. Gave marriage a try way too early (life script! ) and decided it wasn't for me. Bought a little house two years ago and spend a lot of time figuring out how to keep up with it. I have two dogs that keep me busy. Love to travel in my spare time. Glad to be here with you all. :)

Congratulations on the half way mark. Tip if your stomach still feels a little suspect over the next few days, given you're so early out, you could take a step back in your progression on foods and see if that helps.

Thanks Jen. My stomach agrees with you. Honestly, it might end up just being a fluids day with maybe a planted shake. Not sure what's up.

Congrats on being halfway to goal! It takes a while for your brain to adjust on the way down.

Thanks! And yep, truth. Funny how when you live in your skin every day, all you can see is what you have left. The progress counts!
