What's on your Monday Menu?
Good morning, everybody!
JB, sorry about the $1090, that seems so high just for brakes. I had my rotors and pads replaced when I was getting my tires fixed and the whole thing was half of that, including the tire work.
We had a good weekend. Saturday we went to an Octoberfest party. Lots of leiderhausen and German dresses. I didn't know that the bows on the dresses signify whether the wearer is in a relation**** I have already forgotten which side is which, though.
Yesterday, Marilyn rented an edger from Home Depot and cleaned up the sidewalks. I went outside, saw 10 inches of dirt and thought that she had messed up and cut right down the middle of the grass strip, but upon closer reflection, it was just that overgrown. Everything looks amazing today.
As a little side bonus, some of the edges were so thick that she got free sod strips that she replanted in another part of the yard.
Our youngest called Friday and he seems to be meeting a lot of kids, which was welcome news. I think it took him awhile to get to know people. Also, he must be doing well in Chemistry because kids are asking him for help and trying to join his lab group.
Yesterday, Marilyn made the Tomahawk and it was delicious.
QOTD: No, what I like to do is pull too far forward and then crumple my license plate on the pieces of rebar that stick out of the concrete strips that mark the spot. I guess that I really just like that curled plate look.
When I was younger, I used to enjoy turning in too tight and locking my steering wheel - but that was just a phase.
My son backs his Chevy Colorado truck in exclusively.
Breakfast: Bagel
Lunch: Roast beef
Dinner: leftover tomahawk
Have a great day, all!

Thanks for the New Year wishes last week. I missed posting but did read the comments. Re: the bows on the dresses, that's so interesting! Glad your youngest is finding his tribe. I love tomahawks. Here's some New Year's Day grilling from a few years back.

Oh I am also a huge fan of pulling too far forward. I'm that asshole who pulled so far forward that when you are driving around looking for a space, you thought there was an empty one, but there isn't. I wedge myself right up in there. But that is a QOTD for another day, lol.
Glad to hear that your son is finding some friends :)

That may put my oil pan at risk, though. How would I know when to stop?

Thanks, Kelly. It's a relief that he is settling in.

G'morning all!
Ooooh, coffee, yum! I wasn't a big coffee drinker before surgery but it has become my crutch since surgery. I can drink it all day long.
Julia - best wishes for your nephew's operation.
Well guys, we survived Mount Sizer: 15.6 miles, about 8.5 hours (if you don't count the breaks), 4,164 elevation, 41,169 steps, and the steep parts were torturous. On top of that there were uphills both ways, the loop was in a way that even towards the end you had to go uphill. I am so grateful for the hiking poles we got just for this hike, I honestly don't think I could have done without them. My calves are still sore so I might skip a workout today. I'll see how I feel later.
Today I'm gonna get my flu and covid booster , this way I'm all good for the conference and later trip to Italy.
Don't know if you guys follow int'l news but in Italy we have a new prime minister; she is the female version of Trump. No escaping from the orange one or his tentacles into the society. She is indicating that she is going after abortion and LGBTQ rights.
QOTD: if needs be I'll do it. With back view cameras it's very easy. I usually don't park that way but sometimes in a tight spot is actually easier to back in.
My meals yesterday :
- Coffee and scrambled eggs
- Figs and toscano cinnamon cheese
- Pumpkin quest bar
- Kabob + steamed artichokes (with DH secret goop)
- E: rest day
Happy start of the week.
