Lapband to RNY
Hello all,
it's been a while since I've been on here. I had lapband surgery in 2007 and lost 100 pounds and kept it off for 12 years. Then had to have it removed because I was experiencing complications. In 3 years, I gained back almost all the weight I had lost so elected to get the RNY surgery (should have done that to begin with). I'm 3 days post surgery now and doing fairly well. My question is how much different is RNY compared to the lapband? Also, what is the standard amount of time to stay on a liquid diet. I heard both 2 weeks and 4 weeks from my surgeons office. Thanks for your time!

Hi:
if you don't get a response, you may want to repost on a weekday. I think we have some lapband to RNY conversions that post on our daily menu thread.

I never had lapband just a proximal RNY 12 years ago. I found it a fairly difficult recovery.
For me the liquids only stage lasted about a week and a half and after that I was trying to eat scrambled egg whites , fat free refried beans w fat free cheese and mild salsa - in tiny quantities.
my surgeon Okaed it as long as I was walking all the time and sleeping and feeling good ( no pain) .
Congratulations !!!
