Thanks I am going to try. The elliptical is set up so I can start there. It will be so little compared to where I was but I have to remember I need to start somewhere.

G'morning all!

QJB, I read somewhere that the panic dreams are your psyche catching up to your more relaxed and unstructured life. In other words while you were having those hard days at work if you also had the nightmares then you would have fallen apart. But now that you have more relaxed days your conscious is processing those days and digesting them.

You know when people take one look at you, or hear something about you, and assume certain things? And you know how proud you feel when you go against the grain and prove them wrong? Yeah...I'm exactly the opposite. As soon as somebody hears I'm Italian they assume I'm a great cook, or they think my husband is the luckiest man alive because I'm a great cook. Nothing can be further from the truth, I HATE cooking with a passion. I love to bake but I hate cooking. I have 3-4 dishes in my repertoire that I can cook without a recipe book and I'm good at them, but otherwise my cooking is subpar. I'm bringing this up because during the weekend we went to a couple of parties that we didn't know everybody and as soon as somebody would find out my nationality they would oooh and aaaah over my cooking (reminder: I brought fruit to both parties). So last night for the first time I made chicken fajitas, almost from scratch. I used the frozen vegetables already cut up from TJ but I did the rest along with some Spanish rice. I gotta say I'm proud of myself. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

QOTD: the classics, Brian Herbert & Kevin Anderson, Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child, Patrick Keefe, Robert Galbraith, Kazuo Ishiguro, Elena Ferrante, John Grisham, and many many more. My childhood dream was to be locked up in a library...or a bakery! Better yet a library with a bakery

My meals yesterday :

  • Coffee
  • Protein puffs + pp
  • Home made chicken fajitas (skipped the rice)
  • E: cardio + weight

Happy hump day.

Haha, I did assume that about you at first!! When we met in Shell Beach a few years ago when browsing that Italian deli I was asking you all about the imported products, you never said a word!

I didn't wanna ruin the "aura" of Italian woman. I can talk to you about our cheese and dessert till the cows come home, just don't ask me about cooking, except for a handful of dishes. For example my spaghetti sauce from scratch has no rivals and I say that without arrogance. We used to throw Italian theme parties when the kids were in preschool, with a groups of preschool parents, and all they asked for was my sauce. I would show up with a huge pot of sauce that had been simmering for more than 12 hours, and be treated like I had brought the holy grail to King Arthur.

I been making sauce for weeks now. Every time I get a batch of fresh tomatoes. My friends family do not use oregano in their sauce so this year I'm just going with fresh basil.

I was most interested in your thoughts about the best olive oil and canned tomatoes, haha! That said - do you share your recipe or just the sauce? What I really want to know is - are you showing up in Costa Mesa with the Holy Grail big pot of sauce or not?

If sheila is bringing her sauce to hand out, I might have to come just to get some. I really can't because of work commitments but that might change things.
